It not only crashes when trying to open and/or save any file in Upup Precise 3.8.3.1, non-PAE kernel (http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=84944&sid=17483ac5a0fc2350070e6a9ca404eca3) but jumps to the console thus X shall be restarted.

Same for lazpaint 5.6.

Any idea?

Hello!

A new version 6.4.1 is to be tested, compiled and put into packages.

Here are the new features:
- Loading 3d models with texture (two example models are provided)
- Added "brush tool": you can specify the shape of the brush, load it from a file
- Added "clone tool": right click to set source location, and left click to duplicate
- Added palette toolbar: load/save palettes in various formats, posterize or dither image
- In color window: add color to the palette, preview of current color
- Less toolbars by default: right-click on top-left toolbar to add/remove toolbars
- Toolbox is docking inside the main window (left or right side)
- Save file as PNG/JPG/BMP: choose color depth and preview image & file size
- Added "rain" rendering (menu Render)

More info on the new tools:
http://wiki.freepascal.org/LazPaint_Tools

Here are the binaries that are already available:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/lazpaint/files/bin/
(for now win32, win64, linux32 and puppy32)

Someone told they could make linux64 binaries soon.

The macOs version is kind of buggy mainly because of some GUI components that are not working properly (Lazarus is kind of experimental on this platform).

Enjoy and please gimme some feedbacks!

Cheers

I'm afraid you renamed it. Because of a bug in the package manager this will create an empty file /root/.packages/lazpaint6.4.1_puppy32.files, which will make uninstalling by ppm impossible.
You must either keep the name as provided by HoerMirAuf or repack it.

LazPaint looks nice, but I struggle with the basics. Can't figure out how to draw a straight line.

Oh ok. I wanted the names to be consistent with each other.

Well I don't know the structure of PET files.

I changed the name to the original, is it ok now?

To draw a straight line, use the polygon tool. Click two points and then Right-click or press Enter.

Note that you are not the first person telling me that. I may consider adding a specific tool for that. I did not want to have to much tools for the clarity of the interface. Any suggestion?

Name looks OK, but now I can't install it at all. The size of the your file, when downloaded, is 9750K. while the file uploaded by HoerMirAuf is 3542K. It seems that yours is an (uncompressed) tarball without the gzip compression required for a pet file.

I tried that too and ended up with a filled polygon. Finally I figured out that I have to turn off "Fill shape".

I did not change the file to my knowledge.

Yes if you click multiple points, you need to deactive fill.

I shall try modified versions when i will be easy with the basic usage. Not so easy. Lazpaint is the default paint tool in TRITON Precise 5.4
Mtpaint has been default paint tool in Triton 5.7.3 again, because Lazpaint needs knowledge not acquired by beginners.

PostPosted: Sat 30 May 2015, 02:56    Post subject: Lazpaint has to be installed beside MTpaint

Lazpaint has to be installed beside MTpaint, not replacing MTPaint, because they are not the same.
And if adding software in repository is welcome, i want go on step forward, use it. I tried Lazpaint, but i recognized i am lost with it.
Circular, i am talking about Mtpaint because this tool is integrated in Puppy process.
for many of developers here ' a software works well' means 'installs well'. They don't go further.
I am speaking as a photographer, words have not the same meanings.
We are looking for a software which does more than MTpaint, remaining easy to use. Lazpaint is not easy...

Ah ok, so you disagree with the choice made in some distribution to remove mtPaint?

As far as I am concerned, LazPaint is not here to replace mtPaint. People are free to use software they like or are used to.
