I tried installing the latest version of Inkscape from-
ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet ... i486-s.pet
on Slacko 5.3.1. However, it seems to have many dependencies missing - maybe they are present on Slacko 5.5?
Error log-
inkscape: error while loading shared libraries: libgsl.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Solved with 'gsl' search in PPM, installed from Slackware Salix repository
inkscape: error while loading shared libraries: libaspell.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Solved with 'aspell' search in PPM, installed aspell and aspell en dictionary from Slackware Official repository
inkscape: error while loading shared libraries: liblcms2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
one match for lcms in PPM but didn't do the trick

Work around: earlier version inkscape-0.48.1-spup.pet works fine.
