Is there a way to eliminate sub-menus? Thank you.

Yes, there is. But it depends on the window manager used. For some of them it is been set in the files in /etc/xdg/menus.

These html/xml files do have one or several lines similar like this:
Code:
<Menuname inline="false" inline_limit="15">DocumentSiagOffice</Menuname>

Tag inline is used for the sub-menu to be opened or closed.
Tag inline_limit is for sub-menu-auto-close beyond the entered number (more than 15 entries in a sub-menu in this here example)

Some WMs seems to close each first sub-menu of a main-menu-category by default.

In Enlightenment there is a single file at same location similar to the html/xml files noted above. The same is for Lx Puppy Menu.

Hope this helps.

R-S-H: Thank You very much. I was able to eliminate the sub-menus for all the categories. The JWM menu is much simpler now... and, easier to use.

Thanks. I've got to try this. I hate that Slacko has sub-menus to the main menu. It makes me search through several sub-menus to find what I'm looking for. If I don't find it I'm still not certain it's not hidden in another place. Mad

Sub_title: To each his/her own, I suppose.

Yikes! Smile How do you find your way in the resulting chaos?!

As for me, I like to have sub-sub-menus! It makes my roaming around the menu easier, faster and clearer.

To each his/her own, I suppose.

BFN.
