Installing Bitstream font

Google earth is asking for the Bitstream Vera font from www.gnome.org/fonts.
How do i install this font?
I am a nobody. Nobody is perfect. So I am perfect.

you can save vera in /root/.fonts or /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF
But it does no visual improvement, the font still is too small.
I could not find out yet how to change that; changes in qtrc are ignored.

Here is a Dotpup, I took them from Linux-Mandriva 2005:

no.
Just found a solution, install this dotpup, it includes the Vera-font and 2 new registry-settings in /root/.googleearth/Registry/google/googleearthplus/User/render
