Hi James186282,
I think all you need is here. You can download the DISTRO_COMPAT_REPOS at http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 014a76a44e (just clear .jpg after download).

parishilton wrote:Ok:

root/.packages/ and edit the DISTRO_COMPAT_REPOS file to:

PKG_DOCS_DISTRO_COMPAT="archive.ubuntu.com|http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/d ... SION}-main archive.ubuntu.com|http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/d ... }-universe archive.ubuntu.com|http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/d ... multiverse"

Seems to do the job. Everything updates, but when you try to install something none of the files are located and you are prompted to update the repositories for PPM. So now I am definitely out of ideas

I found the same solution and post there http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 014a76a44e
And everything works but you must choose "old-releases.ubuntu.com" and not let by default "ftp.filearena.net" when the window for downloads comes.
It will be best if "old-releases.ubuntu.com" was by default but i didn't find, not really take time to do it !
Philippe
Now i made a .pet and only with one clic everything works fine :
raring3.9.9.2-SCSI_repository_update.pet

Hi,
it still works for me ! For repos update, download and install.
Did you choose "old-releases.ubuntu.com" and not let by default "ftp.filearena.net" in the window when ppm asks which url to use ?

Hi,

This post is just to bring back this excellent Pup to the top of the Puppy
forum listing! :)

As backi said above: uPup-raring 3.9.9.2 is awesome! :) -- Even two years
later, even when compared to some of the newer pups. Sorry if I'm
offending anyone... :)

I think this is still a super OS! I run some very stable servers with it. I am a big fan.

Yea thats right ! Excellent idea .

Missing Pemasus excellent work (for example Dpup-Exprimo).
He did really high quality stuff .
Miss him a lot.

Just wanted to bring Raring back into memory .Like to see a successor in Thar Pup.
But Pemasu seems to busy.

Hi,
For the problem with the ppm i made a .pet and now it works just with one clic, nothing to choose after when you have to download, just clic on "Downoad" :
raring3.9.9.2-SCSI_repository_update.pet

Augras:

I was just thinking about something similar. So, you are saying that when PPM is downloading updates, it does not require you to constantly hit enter in between the types of repositories being downloaded?

I haven't tried your pet yet, but this is a great idea and one long coming.

For this problem i found a better way and i made a .pet and now it works just with one clic, nothing to choose after when you have to download, just clic on "Downoad" :

Many, many thanks, Philippe. This is a life-saver! :)

I suppose the principle of this solution is good for other "abondoned" ubuntus as
well, for ex. the UnicornPup based on Utopic Unicorn ?

How about pemasu's Wheezy pups? Would your solution be valid for the Debian-
based Puppies too?

Thanks in advance for any lead.

Hi musher0,
Thanks for your feedback.
I think this solution can be use for a lot of puppies : just to know which repository to use and make the change in the file.

Augras pet solved the problem of package manager

Augras pet solved the problem of package manager. Merci. It can be used for other 'flavours' of Ubuntu Puppies, and that works well.
