Unofficial Glibc upgrade for 4.12/4.21

#1 Post by darry1966 »

Important Notice try this first on a non-production machine first

what you will need.

1. Read the previous post on this topic here.
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=66373
1.a. Please make sure you deb2pet to convert the following files which are debian files. Link for deb2pet. - http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=39756

2. Download both libc6_2.11.3-4_i386.deb and the libc-bin_2.11.3-4_i386.deb from here http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/libc6.
3. You will need to put this line export LC_ALL=C in etc/profile before the line that says exec xwin. This is important to correct the broken Pmount behaviour as reported in the last Post.

Please ignore my idea of upgrading Pmount as this is not necessary. Anyway this upgrade is unofficial and I can not guarantee results but it has worked on my old girl.

I enclose the modified etc/profile file.

The last part is most important and both libc files must be installed for this to work. I have made a new post to make this upgrade nice and tidy and to also make clear the correct steps for this upgrade.

I am now taking a break from my work upgrading 4.12/4.21 (Anitaos) project as I am pretty tired and it has taken a lot of time to do this you can still access my work at the Anitaos google drive site.

Google drive Site login: anitaos1964 password: anitaos66 was anitaos64

Thanks to all the community and hope my work is of use to Dingo users.

Cheers Darren
