ALSA sound wizard disappears

#1 Post by ICanoe2 »

I am running Puppy 1.08r1 from a full hard drive installation and the following is my systems info.
ACER machine
PII- 300 MHz
128 Meg RAM
6 Gig HD
1X CD drive
1X 3-1/4" floppy
Sound card ??? (no name listed on the card physicaly)
When I originally went through the set-up of Puppy it recognized my sound card and gve the followng options.
opti 93x OPTi Audio 16
legacy Probe Legacy ISA (non PNP) chips
I chose the first option.
The sound has not worked yet since the hard drive install however I know the sound has worked in the past with one of the Puppy 1.0_ versions running from the live CD. (sorry I have tried a number of different ones in the past months)
When I go into the ALSA sound wizard the initial screen comes up to confirm that no devices are using the card. When I click ok or 'Enter' I can see approx 3 lines of code run at the bottom of the window and then the window disappears. I have tried re-booting to ensure that nothing was open and I received the same results.
Any ideas?
Thanks heaps.
