UPupBB 18.05 Issue With Drive Icons and Mouse Buttons

#1 Post by MrDuckGuy »

Just trying out Upup
Bionic Beaver 18.05
in a frugal folder:

(UpupBB 18.05
4.9.96-lxpup-32-pae (i686)
)

I have problems,
which are unexpected.
I've been running this frugal
folder without a save file
for weeks, without any of
these issues.

After initial save file,
screen setup, and reboot,
all drive icons were
inexplicably, gathered
in one spot on the screen.
My desktop wallpaper
had disappeared.

Also, no right-click
functionality in the
mouse, when clicking
on the desktop in
order to bring up
the menu. Touchpad is
the same as mouse.

No left-click
functionality when
clicking on icons. No
function when clicking
in folders. Only worked
with menu items in a
limited way. Touchpad
same as mouse.

After experimentally
installing an external
USB keyboard, mouse
functions returned to
normal. Even after
removing keyboard,
mouse continued to
function normally.

Also, with USB
keyboard, icons were
able to be reset in the
normal fashion.

So it seems like, the
simple action of plugging
in a USB keyboard and
removing it resolved the
"bug."

Is this a known issue?
Could this have to do
with a USB hub perhaps?
Is it my hardware, in light
of that this hadn't occurred
in any other versions of
Puppy Linux?

As always, thanks in
advance, Kelikaku B'H.

The save probably just did not get correctly made.

Boot up from a cold condition, where the computer was shutdown and powered off.
Boot using option to not use the save.(ram or ram only boot menu entry)

Delete the save you made.

Shutdown making a new save.

If the save is on a Windows formatted partition.
ntfs or fat32 format.
The file system (the format) could be fragmented and that can cause issues with the save also being fragmented.

To check for fragmentation. You will have to do it in Windows, using the Windows programs defrag and chkdsk.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)
