Ok you should have an extra 5gb now....

After some fiddling I got the command line versions running on Lucid on a dual core atom ...yo. I assume that gets yer bonus..let me know if not. The gui verson should run on lucid but the qt4/ libstdc++ wants a glibc2.13 function even though its supposed to work with 2.11.

I also played with dropping a newer glibc in the /copy folder which was a working hack of you have an older system.

The command line versions are nice...smaller footprint and sync folder works the same way. (15MB install)
https://coderwall.com/p/rwxnma

There is also a command line utility with lots of juicy functions (once you decipher the help) like mounting your drop folder locally read only for cloud usage, and general drop usage..putting files, getting links etc which could mean its possible to say write a neat gtkdialog interface like I have for dropbox or some neat remote sfs interface.

Actually in my testing I got mixed up.
The gui DOES work in Lucid... but not to worry as I would not have tried out the command line otherwise

Greetings:

I am perplexed at getting Copy working. I already registered online and after downing the their Linux desktop app and fighting to find and open it for the next step it has a read me (below) which is over my head, so I checked out here for help and happily found a helpful topic on Copy and downloaded copy-x86-1.35.0518_5.6.0.sfs and it says it installed but I don't see any Copy gadget or folder to use. Should I use Quickpet instead or is there a procedure I'm missing? I'm using Precise Retro 5.7.

Thanks for any hints and this topic!

Jim in NYC

To use Copy in Linux, install this tarball wherever you like. There are three
binaries available for use, described below.cs

1. CopyAgent – This is a QT based UI application for the Linux GUI; it acts
as a tray application, just like the Mac and Windows versions.
1.a You can install overlays on certain version of Nautilus, by
running as root ./CopyAgent –installOverlay.

2. CopyConsole – This is a headless version of the Copy app. It can run
in a terminal or as a background process.
2.a This version won't have a login prompt, so if you haven't logged
in before you'll need to provide at minimum a username and Copy
folder location. If a password isn't provided at the command line,
it will be prompted for. Example:
CopyConsole -username=<email> -root=/home/<user>/Copy
2.b If you have previously logged in, either with CopyAgent or
CopyConsole, then no special arguments are required.
2.c For more options, run: CopyCommand -help

If you run through terminal the command 'fixmenus' or reboot your computer, you will see a "Copy" shortcut under the Internet menu. Just click on it and the CopyAgent will start giving you the the ability to setup the app as you wish...

Is the 5gig bonus offer over? I've logged in and out using the desktop app and it's still 15gigs. Not that it's not ample but I don't want to miss out on any deals.

Well, I got an extra 5gig via a referral so that works, but I see no way of grabbing that 5gig bonus they claimed you get just for installing the desktop app, unless it takes a different version to do that or the offer's expired. If not, I'd love to know the trick! Hints anyone?

Thanks!

You have to register through a referral link to get the extra space... Did you do that or did you do a normal registration?

What mikeb said; Possible for:

An owner`s private dirs.?
An owner read-write and public read-only dirs.?
And public read-write dirs.?

I didn`t see this kind of versatility in DropBox.

Thank you koulaxizis. :D

I made a symlink to /mnt/home/Copy into /root so that I'm able to use my hard disk instead of my save file.

You're welcome! :)

Copy is a nice cloud service, it deserves a place in our Puppies! ;)

it works very well--great find. (more generous but more resource hungry than dropbox).

vicmz (and others), fwiw, if you right click the icon in the task bar and select preferences, you get an option to place the folder wherever you want.
