Remaster live cd for Wary 5.5

#1 Post by Len E. »

:? (I've remastered live cd's for Puppy Precise several times successfully).

Near the end of the remastering process for Wary 5.5, a message
appears stating that no .iso file can be created, "no boot loaders found.
You need isolinux.bin or grldr to make bootable CD."

Is there some extra step required during remastering to satisfy this
requirement and achieve a successful conclusion ??????

The nature of the problem has changed

#2 Post by Len E. »

I belatedly stumbled onto Barry's service pack, and installed it as the
first step in another remastering attempt. The remastering process
went normally and a custom .iso was produced.

It was very unusual that the resultant .iso was somewhat smaller than
the original:
original size --> 146,446,336 bytes
custom size --> 145,979,392 bytes

The attempt to boot the custom livecd failed with a kernel panic:

the last messages were:
Setting up the layered filesystem
Performing a "switch_root" to the layered filesystem. kernel panic
- not syncing: Attempted to kill init !

****************

The customizations were few in number but should have generated
an .iso somewhat larger than the original:
-install lxterminal
-remove inkscapelite, install full inkscape
-install unrpm.pet, undeb xosview .....deb, the Debian 5 version of
xosview
-install htop, sylpheed, firefox and gimp

***************

Still puzzled ????????

Remaster live cd for Wary 5.5

:) I repeated the remaster process on Wary 5.3 to check the validity
of the steps, and it went fine.
For Wary 5.5, i replaced the module /usr/sbin/remasterpup2 with
the same module from Wary 5.3, and the process worked, and
the resultant distro booted up o.k. The only glitch I found was with
xosview: I had to rerun undeb to reinstall the .deb file, and reedit the
/etc/X11/app-defaults/XOsview file to change the default font from
7x13bold to 7x13. Also, no menu item was created for xosview, but
it does run from the gexec menu selection.

Same remaster problem with Wary 5.3.90. Remasterpuppy2 script not producing correct/proper SFS file. Replace it with an earlier version, I used the one from puppy431 .
