How to skip the GRUB menu at boot? - SOLVED

#1 Post by okok »

What is the correct way to make GRUB load an HD installation of Puppy immediately, without showing the GRUB menu at all?

Is it possible to make this menu optional (say, appear only if a key is pressed) or proceed with loading the OS if nothing is selected after several seconds?

hi
you will have to edit the grub menu.lst in /boot/grub/
near the top is a timeout option remove the # before it and change that value to something smaller, then at the end of the timeout it will boot the first partition on the list.

cherriepuppy is 100% correct. Simply edit menu.lst to begin with the line:

timeout=0

The GRUB menu will never pop up.
