15.06

#801 Post by XP Refugee »

I'm with the guy who said 2 is toooo low. I too run 7 with 3 threshold. I have to set this EVERY TIME I boot up. Annoying. Also wondering why 2 is a default. Is there some way I can set it and forget it? I've tried clicking on OK as someone suggested and nada. It saves to a folder (as suggested in setup) and does this on all 4 of my usb pups.
thanks for the attention, await possible fix

XP Refugee,
I can't give you the complete answer but I can give you a clue. I run Puppy Linux on old ThinkPad models and always have this same problem, regardless of which Puppy or which ThinkPad model, although being a ThinkPad, I'm using the trackpoint rather than a mouse. Same problem as you, though. My answer is to create a short bash script 'mouse.sh' which contains the one line 'echo -n 255 > /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/sensitivity' and save it to /root/Startup. The point here is to directly edit the values which control speed ('sensitivity') of the trackpoint (on a scale 0-255 where 255 is maximum sensitivity). The figures for a mouse will be read from a similar subfolder of /sys/devices/platform but I can't promise you which one. Saving the bash script in /root/Startup causes it to be executed on every boot. Hope this helps, if only a little.

thinks, this is a solid lead. Up til now it appeared *I* was the only one having this problem. I'll tinker with things a bit and see what happens. I'd love to put an end to resetting it every boot up.

Could find NOTHING poking ALL around /sys. But I did end up poking around /root/config./lxsession/LXDE and low and behold in desktop config I FOUND IT !!!!!
I now have it set at 7 and 3 threshold. Survived restarting window manager. I figure it'll survive a reboot :)

tho the tip did not lead me right to it, it gave me the motivation to keep looking around and clickin on stuff :)

Afraid I still don't understand what information you require.... :(

There is no configuration change list available.... :(

Suggestion DELETED - not practical - too many changes:
What you could do is use the Xffm Patch Manager in the Utility menu to provide a difference display between the /root/.packages/woof-installed-packages in LxPupTahr-15.02 with the same file in LxPupTahr-15.12....

Best one Puppy with LXDE.
Works great and very easy to use.

Preview - LxPupXenial-16.05.1

#811 Post by peebee »

Preview for testing:

LxPupXenial-16.05.1-pae.iso

With many thanks to 666philb for Xenialpup 7.0.1 with 32-bit pae kernel 4.5.2

If you find problems please check in the first instance if they are also present on Xenialpup 7.0.1 and report them at the thread for Xenialpup 7.0.1

Only report problems with LxPup / LXDE aspects here - thanks.

LxPupXenial-16.05.1 inherits some aspects from LxPupSc - particuarly the use of LxPanel instead of LxPanelX as per LxPupTahr.

This is a Preview and currently identifies as Xenialpup.

All of the basics working great here on a quick test. Booted straight to desktop in proper resolution, sound OK OOTB, Frisbee connected without issue, smoothly surfing on Palemoon. Nice work!!

Happy as clams here. Intel sound and video, iwlwifi WPA2 connection using Frisbee, Lid suspend all fine OOTB. Palemoon profile symlinked to extra-pupspace location as usual. Rendering and speed good. Glxgears FPS good at 1550.

Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.
