Files To Add To devx_200

#1 Post by Dougal »

While compiling I keep discovering that parts of packages that exist in Puppy are missing from the devx_200 addon, thus causing trouble

An example of a missing file is /usr/lib/gdkmm-2.4/include/gdkmmconfig.h.
Okay, have fixed that one.

don't have it in Mandriva 10, but maybe this helps:

I thought I probably had it, but turns out not. I had compiled libusb for gtkam a while back and usually add those files back into usr_devx for Grafpup, but either it wasn't included or I lost it. At this point being a few months ago I'm not sure.

I've got libusb.pc, will post it here tomorrow if no one else does.

I just remembered another one: tclstub.
It might not be missing now that we have the new tcl, but with 8.4 it was...

Doesn't anyone else have any ideas for things to add??

Libpng

#6 Post by Kal »

I was trying to compile the newest Mplayer with gui lately and found that the "libpng" was kicking out as no good. Looked at it and all seemed good , but, not with Mplayer's configure. So, I copied over it with Slackware's libpng package and all went well. There must be something missing or corrupt in Puppy's libpng package.

the .so is 0.1.2.5 , but the headers are 0.1.2.8.

To compile mplayer, I replaced the headers in /usr/include with the older ones

source (their website is down):
http://dotpups.de/diverse-tgz/libpng-1.2.5.tar.bz2

I did not use the binary 0.1.2.8 -.so, because I wanted to keep mplayer compatible with puppys shared libraries.

Thanks Mark for the info. This was a few days after mplayer-1.0pre8 came out. Normally I don't bother with the gui, but this was for someone else, on a brand new computer. Should have made him wait for yours. All works well though.

Since Barry mentioned Perl modules in his blog, here are a couple that I was missing (not sure if they're supposed to come with Perl or from foreign packages): Gtk2.pm, CDDB_get.pm

There were more, I'll try and find out what they were...

I've also had the need for "autoreconfig". I tried autoconfig but it gave me errors.

libcap and libcap-devel packages

#10 Post by Goble »

I asked a question (see thread http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=9126) about missing libcap library in stock Puppy and libcap-devel files in devx package.

Problem was solved with Mark's help and Dougal suggested me to post a note about missing files in this thread.

I was compiling VDR (www.cadsoft.de/vdr/) application in Puppy 2.01 but it failed because of missing libcap libraries and header files in devx201 package. Please see the above mentioned thread for more detailed explanation about the scenario and how it was solved.

However, I believe libcap is quite widely used library and if someone is compiling apps using it then libcap-devel is needed. The size of both of these libraries without man pages is quite small.

Cheers.
