load save file into ram

#1 Post by atheist »

hello,

i was wondering if it's possible to load a save file into ram; I came across this thread: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 5&start=60, but it's old, and I couldn't get the init.rd to download. is there another option at this time?

puppy precise frugal 5.7.1 on an IBM R40

thanks,

possible ...yes... but with precise and a save file...the answer is not so clear..

It involves some changes to the system (initrd and rc.shutdown mainly.) and working with puppy standard save files would be quite clumsy....using an sfs is heading in the right direction though. (clue...don't load the save file as such)
Jemimah never persued it (I did offer help) and she is no longer active here I believe.

I normally run puppy this way but I only have older versions with it working and have no interest in fiddling with precise......but nothing to stop others doing it.
