How to change the clock from 24 to 12 hour format? (SOLVED)

#1 Post by ardvark »

Hi all...

Is there a way to get the clock to display "normal" time as opposed to 24 hour, or military time?

Thanks!

Just click on the clock in task bar and PupClockset will pop up. Then you can change it.

Thank you but that only brings up a calendar.

I used PupClockset 2.2.1 pet. Here is a link to the thread here at the forum that has the link to the pet: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=61633

I use an older puppy. In menu there is an item "set date and time". If you click that the calendar will appear first, click ok and the time screen will display.

If you use JWM:
Menu > Desktop > JWM Window Manager Settings > Title bar and clock > Clock Format

Hi guys...

@mtzlplex: This looks good but for some reason Puppy's archive manager can't seem to extract the .pet. Any ideas?

@nic007: Thank you but there is no option to change formats.

@MochiMoppel: Thank you but this option doesn't seem to be available for my version, which is Precise 5.6.1.

Regards...

Try upgrading to a more recent jwmconfig2
http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/pet_pa ... 0504-5.pet
Maybe upgrade the jwm binary as well
http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/jwm-871-i486.pet
Typing jwm -v in terminal will tell you the current installed version
Restart X after installation.

Good, seems to be the default in Puppy 412 that I use. BTW there's a way to get rid of the zero too there was a thread about this not too long ago.

I'm still using Puppy 412 - on it now!
Remove the zero: in JWM? Sorry, I don't quite follow. Try browsing this entry; perhaps it will help.

Yeah, the zero in front. That thread probably referred to the link you provided above. Having the zero doesn't really bother me personally, I just mentioned it as additional information. Cheers

Though the issue is solved, here some sidenotes:

You are right. It's not available in Precise, but it is in Slacko. Judging from the file dates the 2 versions of the JWM configuration manager seem to be only 2 weeks apart. I tried to copy the (newer) /usr/local/jwmconfig2/jwmConfigMgr and the new file /usr/local/jwmconfig2/title-clock from Slacko to the same locations in Precise and it seems to work. In fact the addition of the title bar/clock configuration is the only major difference.

When you click on the "Title bar and Clock" button, you'll see a dialog that states that the 24 hour clock format is the "default". Not quite true. It's the pre-configured format, but when you remove all format settings you'll get the "real" default, the format that's built-in. And interestingly it's the format that you requested: hh:mm am|pm.

Contains files jwmConfigMgr and title-clock. For testing backup your old jwmConfigMgr and copy both files to /usr/local/jwmconfig2/
