Hi,
Any tips for finding a driver for my soundcard please?

It's a Thinkpad X130e i3, which Windows 7 says uses the Conexant 20671 smartaudio HD soundcard. I'm running a fresh install of Lucid 5.2.8.6.

"aplay -l" says "no device found", there is no volume control in the taskbar, and the alsamixer is just an empty window without any faders. I ran ALSA Wizard, but it couldn't find any devices.

Thanks,
Simon

Well one site said add portaudio but I get the feeling thats not the solution here.

Being an INTEL jobbie it probably needs a newer alsa.

Alsa is easier to build than it seems...devx and kernel source...configure, make install.....even though pups dev files are oversized they do do the job...you could probably just update drivers rather than the full set.

Or http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=90461
mentions some new Lucid builds with newer kernels...might be an easier route for you

Is the snd-hda-intel module loaded?

Use the following command to list the sound modules-
lsmod | grep snd

Hi...

If the above suggestions don't work and your system is able (without it slowing down,) you could also try using Precise 5.6.1 or 5.7.1. You can find the latter here. :)

Thanks for all the tips.

So I tried out Linux Mint and managed to accidentally wipe my Puppy partition. :( Mint seems to be playing nicer with my hardware out of the box, so I'll give it a try.

I appreciate your help, sorry it seems to be in vain, but I'll definitely try them out if I come back to Puppy.
