Firefox-23 Virtual AppPkg no-install app.

#1 Post by sunburnt »

Here`s my first try and rework of a Virtual No-Install AppPkg: Firefox-23.

In Rox filer click the Firefox-23 dir. for it`s first run and it downloads the SFS file.
After that clicking in the Rox filer on the AppPkg dir. will run Firefox.

# It does not make a menu entry for Firefox. I`m working on that...

If you already have koulaxizis`s SFS file: firefox-23.0.1-en_5.6.0.sfs
All you need do is copy it to: FireFox-23.AppPkg/.AppPkg/
Then click the AppPkg for first run and it will set it up instantly ( no download ).

# As always, any Qs or suggestions are welcome.

Good morning!! I downloaded and tested the package...

When i clicked on it, i got this message: Failed to execute child process "/mnt/home/Downloads/Firefox-23.AppPkg/AppRun" (No such file or directory)

Any idea why?

Yes I do have an idea why... Working late at night and making "improvements".
These are the type of improvements that M$ calls "Enhancements"

The main AppRun link was bad ( of course...).

# I apologize to anyone who has downloaded my first attempt.

I`ve simplified the script and added a "run" file.
This reduces the script`s memory footprint down to: 50 to 100 bytes.
The main script is over 1300 bytes in size, so about 1200 bytes of ram saved.

# I tested it a few times, both downloading and with the SFS file copied to /.AppPkg

Please try it again...
AND, don`t let my lack of coding skills make you think less of no-install apps.
