Script to set automatic retrieval of email and newsgroups?

#1 Post by puppypilgrim »

Is there a way for someone to write a sample shell script that would auto-retrieve email from a specified email server and newsgroups at specific timed intervals within Puppy?

What would such a script look like and can one be written where we just replace the username, pwd and server name and off it goes? Unfortunately my understanding of Linux shell scripting is not enough to think of doing this.

While Windows has MS Scheduler, does Puppy have something that will execute a script at a specified time or intervals?

Is there a console email reader available for Puppy that would support this kind of scripting or automated process?

Xagenda can do it I think, but does not have the fine-grain time control -- basically, it would only execute a program when you bootup on a certain day.
I don't know what ical is capable of in that regard -- ical has a manual when you have it running.
