Python2.7.x for softmaker freeoffice 2013

#1 Post by Raj »

Hi there,

I have 2-3 days back installed puppy precise 5.7.1 into my IdeaPad S10-2 Lenovo, from kubuntu12.04. I also installed softmaker Freeoffice 2012. It's not functioning properly. As a default programme, it's not opening files.

Another issue is its dialogue box -- opening half.

I checked dpi advice given in another guy on same issue -- no result. I checked "Checked dependencies install pkg" -- it's showing python2.7 is missing.

Another software Bleachbit also indicates the same issue.

The .pet file of this office 2012 software is from Bary K's link.

I checked every possible place for this python -- not available. .deb file of this python also is not working.

Pls help.

Thanks & hugs in advance.

Raj

Ok this is a little strange as I have softmaker free office and there is no requirement for python.

As far as I know barrys pet is the same free office with a gtkdialog4 start up wrapper which does have some annoying dependencies but again not python.

Why not grab it direct from softmaker as part of their charity campaign instead....might be more promising. I can run it on really old puppies without any problem.

Thanks Mike.

But can you please advise how to downlaod devx .pet & install it.

would appreciate a direct link from where I can download it (& instructions, if any).

I am a novice in puppy linux & can not go for technical complications.

Best regards,
Raj

Thanks Mike, roadkill13 & all.

Being advised in some other question, I installed openbox .pet, changed the WM from jwm to ob & now can open softmaker freeoffice 2012 dialogue freely (do not know how & why, but it's working).

Now I'm looking for some advise to change the default settings of freeoffice 2012 (textmaker).
