My retrovol can control Master, Headphone and PCM output when looking at Retrovol.

The slider in gtkradio can be configured to use either of the above outputs. The headphones seem to be in series with the Master. IOW moving the Master up and down affects the headphone level.

When PCM is selected it moves the PCM slider in Retrovol and gtkradio up and down but has no effect on output level. It appears when PCM is selected it is still using the Master output control.

It may work differently on other systems. Sound cards are tricky and various.

how to stop recording ?

#110 Post by charlie6 »

Hi Dejan555,

just wondering if the right way to stop recording is:
typing Ctrl-C in the "streamripper" terminal opened upon records start;

is there another way?

Thanks in advance
Charlie

That's what I do, I think you can just close the window on titlebar close button too, it should stop running process.
Someone already asked about stoping streamripper from sgr window, I guess I could make record button check if streamripper already runs and kill process when clicked, didn't think it was necessary though, and since streamripper is separate process you could close sgr window and leave streamripper active if you want.

BBC Radio

#112 Post by vicmz »

Hello Dejan & all,

With BBC radio streaming URLs ending in .asx I'm getting an audio notification saying that BBC no longer provides support for the Windows Media format. Not only from SimpleGTKradio, but also from VLC.

I found alternative streaming URLs here, they are in MP3 format:

http://mathewpeet.org/lists/BBC_radio_audio_streams/

I only listen to Radio 1, so I just had to edit the default playlist ("Edit stations" button) to add the following:

Code: Select all

Hey people.
Here's the same app if someone wants to use it with the new mpv player.
I haven't tested it much so please report if you encounter any bugs, this is just a quick fix.
I plan to make it able to play with any of the two in the same package but I'll have to inspect it further and see what I can do...
You can thanks mrfricks for kindly suggesting it in the chatroom.

Hey, thanks, Dejan. That works brilliantly; far better than the original.

The 'old' SimpleGTKRadio used to sound all 'muffled' on the old Compaq tower. This is way clearer - nice one!

Say thanks to Phil for me, willya? I haven't been in the Puppy chatroom for the best part of nearly 4 years; it used to be pretty dead, so I kinda gave up on it.....

(That gives me 3 apps that'll handle streaming radio now; DeaDBeeF, Fred's DogRadio.....and this one. Wooo!)

Cheers! Now I just need to get the hang of adding station URLs to it..... (*sigh*)

Mike.
