Thank you L18L.
1. The updated fatdog-quickapps will be part of basesfs in next release.
2. fatdog.pot and fatdog.mo (german) will be included in fatdog-i18n-1-noarch-1.txz package in the repo *AND* in fd64-nls.sfs. The one in fd64-nls.sfs obviously will be static, but the package in the repo will reflect continuous updates - all other languages will be in this package as well, when they are available.
cheers!

you have done another great work: looks like you have found all translations existing on the web and put them into one sfs.
Note, ROX-Filer.mo has to be located at
/usr/share/ROX-Filer/Messages/<lang>/LC_MESSAGES/
fatdog.potcan be found at /usr/share/locale if fd64-nls_700b2.sfs is loaded.

Internationalization of Fatdog64-700b2
As Fatdog is NOT Puppy it is really important learning to know the differences.
There is nothing better than the docs in /usr/share/docs/faqs to learn from.
Translating these and overwrite (or override) the originals is bad.
Translating these and store them under a directory of the target language is bad. Why? Changes might not be noticed and thus not be updated!
Using gettext and the web server mongoose is the best I think of at the moment.
Not just think of but startet doing it.
Here a teaser.
The pic is showing the partially translated "index" of the FAQs.
Bottom line links to English original and to translations in other languages. (the others are fake of course, just symlinks to my Deutsch translation)
.. and that's the template:

Internationalization of Fatdog64-700b2
home and all faqs internationalized now.
EDIT
Size large, too large?
Partially translated German translation fatdoghelp.mo.
fatdoghelp.mo has 520 messages translated and is 83 K large for now.
All 1532 translated would make about 250K.
exiv2.mo - 249K
gimp.mo - 275 K
vlc.mo - 610 K
Download 549K from:http://now4u.org/fd64-700b2-NLS-2.tar.gzREADME wrote: Sort of Help for Fatdog
You should already have loaded:
fd64-nls_700b2.sfs
(see http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=96179 )
web server mongoose is launched at start of X
localhost:8080 will launch Fatdog's home page
from there you can navigate to faqs...
Translate:
create fatdoghelp.pot:
cd (usr/share/doc
xgettext -L shell --keyword=_ -o fatdoghelp.pot template_top home.html `ls faqs/*.html`
number of messages counted:
# grep -c msgid fatdoghelp.pot
1532
#
msginit # will create ${LANG%%_*}.po file for fatdoghelp
translate them using geany and then format the messages by:
msgfmt ${LANG%%_*}.po -o /usr/share/locale/${LANG%%_*}/LC_MESSAGES/fatdoghelp.mo
...and you can have
home.html and faqs
in your language (and hopefully soon in some other already translated languages)
Note, a translated doc is only counted as translation if translated title is different from English title
Enjoy

Re: Fatdog Chinese Language pets
[quote="icake"]I am making new Chinese Language pets for fatdog64 630rc2 and runs into this challenge:

English version: text=Menu
3. when I changed the above line to Chinese:
text=
