AmiPUP 1.0

AmiPUP is a Slacko 5.6 PAE derivative that attempts to look more "Amiga-like" (hence, Ami-PUP"). :)

Primary differences include the addition of IceWM & Wbar and a complete repaint of all visual elements (where practical).

It uses a modified version of Faenza icons, but a set of "Ken's Icons" are also included for an even more authentic Amiga experience.

Yes, that was a long time ago.
I never owned an Amiga myself (budget) but we spend long evenings behind it playing adventure games....

Some of it comes back at looking at this very polished (great work) puppy. I wanted to try the emulator, but did not find the kickstart rom. To bad you could not include one for demo purposes .... (*)

Compliments on the Icewm implementation. It is very smooth and beautiful. Impressive piece of work.

(*) I expect a legal rights issue ? Many people will "just try" the emulator, for nostalgic reasons, and will do nothing with it that would justify any form of reward (financial or whatever). Without the kickstart rom you could as well remove the emulator as well, and package it as a PET or SFS.

E-UAE is subject to the terms of the GNU GPL and no copyrighted roms, etc. were included. The whole point of the AmiPUP is to act as a platform to host Amiga Forever, AmiKit, etc. which are LEGAL sources for the required files.

If you're not into that, then there are a 100 other Puppy derivatives that you might like better! ;)

Hi klesterjr

Just to let you know how very nice I think your AmiPup is - beautifully presented.

Have not tried the Amiga bits yet but as a general linux user distro it is superb.

Everything seems to work as expected OOTB, including suspend / resume, on my E732 laptop and it is f2fs friendly too. Fantastic.

Running frugal from a f2fs usb and frugal from an ntfs partition.

Many thanks for sharing your hard work. Much appreciated.

It appears that the iso file was removed from sourceforge, I tried downloading from several mirrors but the file is nowhere to be found.

Hello, I registered just to say that I installed this to my hard drive (took a while to figure out), copied over my roms and system folders to the Amiga folder within home, and got things up and running. I am rather enjoying this, quite a bit!!! It works well, even on the old low end system I'm testing it on atm.

All right, I'm having a couple basic issues.

First and foremost, I am not a Linux expert, I know enough to get around, especially with ready to use distros like Mint, but I'm no expert.

Puppy is pretty new to me, I've booted off a live disk in the past, checked out what it had to offer, and that was pretty much it.

As for the machine I am running Amikit on, it has an Nvidia Geforce 5200 in it, and it's a tower, plus I do not keep the internet at home so I've no way of getting it on-line.

What I need is NVIDIA's drivers for my card as it would seem that I'm running in VESA mode. I was suggested to download and double click on this file:

nvidia_old-173.14.37-3.10.5-PAE.pet

But AmiPup merely said it could not install it without giving me an explanation as to why not.

I'm sort of at a loss here and would be grateful for any advice. Thank you!

After a hard day with a Debian puppy, nothing was ok, Amipup is perfect, browser settings are exactly mine, the screen is light, blue a this summer sky vith stellars. Le coup de coeur ! :D :D :D
Offrez Amipup Pour Noël !

Passenger Pelo needs the audio

Audio you tube : well, sound is perfect
Audio registered movie : sound ok
Precord, file mp3 registered, but no sound. Something i missed ? I come back.
Retrovol capture was not activated !
Newbie will not think about that.
Gnome-Mplayer settings : x11 to activate.
pAVrecord : tries go on. defaul setings get bad quality
Xvidcap : perfect (colours and 100% captured)
Drec : freezes. Perhaps something to add (theora ?). I will advise.
Drec (dpuprec in console) does not like gtk themes not classical ! Drec does it if you change the theme to polished-blue. The video will be posted on Youtube, AMIPUP is worth of it.
