Hi.
Thanks for your work.
So far works well except my pppoe connection.
I had to replace pppoe-setup files from Shinobar's version to be able
to connect.

Could you tell me exactly, what files you did replace, or even send me a package?
So I could provide it for anyone else having same problems.

Thanks.

LASSIE has a nice original feel.

That's just how it was supposed to be. No confusing the user by doing too many or too different changes. Just trying to keep it original as far as possible and to add useful tools and apps for the easiness and joy of using a Puppy Linux.

The icons are unique, and the wallpaper is nicely tuned to the icon theme. The default wallpaper could be a little lighter though - the drive icons blend in a bit on old monitors

The Icons are created by ARu, I've just made some additions and re-creations and added the Wallpapers also provided by ARu - except the default Wallpaper, which I did found on the web long time ago and did some work on it for the use in L.A.S.S.I.E. by using GIMP 2.6.12.

You might consider adding one or two additional b&w/sepia wallpapers; perhaps an old farmhouse in a field or a classic still-life, etc.

Do you got a link to such (free) images?
I think, some more Wallpapers could/should be provided in a different SFS Module.

Please, could you explain, what is a steampunk? Maybe adding a picture?

Edit:

I have added new information to the second post of this topic about the use of the new boot option lpextsfs.

Steampunk?

It's like Dieselpunk, kind of a concept of cyfi and fantasy.

Sorry, wrong thread for this idea.

Hi.
I took them from Puppy precise 5.7.1JP.
She worked so hard, long time ago to solve that problem.

HowTo's, Tips and Information

The 1st and 2nd post have been updated.

B

How to use the new boot option lpextsfs ?

My menu.lst wrote:
kernel /PreciseLassie/vmlinuz lpextsfs=no psubdir=PreciseLassie pmedia=atahd pfix=ram,fsck nouveau.noaccel=1

This is the 'kernel'-line from one of my boot menu entries. The main part is: lpextsfs=no.
Use this option to avoid L.A.S.S.I.E. to load the Lassie_Extension.sfs. If this option is not used, L.A.S.S.I.E. will try to load Lassie_Extension.sfs and even if it wouldn't be existing, L.A.S.S.I.E. tells the user at boot up about the Lassie_Extension.sfs was successfully loaded.

This option can be used for different SFS Modules, ex: lpextsfs=MyPrivate.sfs, to load such a SFS Module.
Note: The SFS Module has to be stored at boot directory (if installed in a directory) to work properly.

O

How to use Openshot 1.4.3 and Blender 2.63 3D Studio ?

This will work only if these files, Openshot 1.4.3 and Blender 2.63 3D Studio are locally available and used.

Here we go (1):

- do a right-click onto the Openshot 1.4.3 SFS Module and choose 'Add Dependencies'
- drag 'n' drop the Blender 2.63 SFS Module into the first window that will open up
- close the window clicking 'OK' or 'Apply' (click the button!)
- just close the 2nd window

The Openshot 1.4.3 SFS Module is automatically replaced with the one you have added a SFS Dependency to it.

Here we go (2):

- do a right-click again onto the Openshot 1.4.3 SFS Module and choose 'Create RunScript'
- select the .desktop file for openshot (1st tab, left frame)
- disable option to load the SFS from directory 'Module' (2nd tab)
- close the window clicking 'OK' or 'Apply' (click the button!)

Now refresh JWM and there should be a Menu Entry. If you do a remaster now, make sure to keep the files in /root/.my-sfs-scripts.

From now on you can execute Openshot 1.4.3 by a Menu Entry and it will load Blender 2.63 automatically before Openshot is starting.

All you need to do after Openshot is started, is to set the blender executable in Openshot's Preferences from 'blender' to 'blender263'.

If I'm able to do so, I'm going to work out a wrapper script for Openshot to set this automatically after the SFS Modules are loaded and before executing the Openshot binary (python file). Maybe it will work just to rename the script blender263 to blender inside the Blender 2.63 SFS Module.

V

How to add Icons to the VarioMenu-Group (Desktop) ?

- just drag 'n' drop whatever you want onto the Desktop
- - maybe .dektop file from /usr/share/applications or a script from /usr/local/bin etc.pp.

- switch to another VarioMenu-Group by the Icon on top of the Screen or by the icon in systray
- - it's either the one with the penguin or another icon presenting or even the Icon with black number on white background

- switch back to the previous used VarioMenu-Group

That's it. Icons now added to the VarioMenu-Group.

Yes, that's right. The one in the clouds I was asking for...

Ok,

as I've stated before: L.A.S.S.I.E. is a result of development of my LazY Puppy ISO Builder, which is a compilation of Woofy 0.91, LazY Puppy Transformer and LazY Remaster Suite and I'm still working on it.

I'm now at version 1.0.18 and I was luckily able to improve that monster of development to remaster a new ISO/OS into a specific language. A French, German, Italian and Turkish version has been already build (just by installing the language packages while the ISO Builder does its job) for some testings and all did start directly into X and into the wanted language (incl. timezone and keyboard layout - though could not find Turkish keyboard layout, so I used US for this).

I think, when it's time to update L.A.S.S.I.E., there may be even a DE, FR, IT and TR version to upload.

We will see...

Sorry to bother you.

What does that mean?

You can't drag 'n' drop a .desktop File onto the desktop?

Or just: why there isn't any Icon on the desktop?

Click the VarioMenu-Button on top of the Screen (the one with the penguin) or the one in the systray (the Icon with black number on white background).

A GUI appears (at least it should do so) - first time takes a little longer when the VarioMenu-Button on top of the Screen is clicked.

Choose 'Favorites' and you should have the full Puppy Icon setup.

If this doesn't help, please give a little more information of what you have done or what you are trying to do.

Are you using a save file?

If so, you need to change the VarioMenu-Group at least one time after dragging some Icons onto the desktop and before shutting down the computer.

Thanks

RSH
