Subject description: how to use send to desktop

I am a newbee so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I installed Puppy_Linux_lupu-528-yet-another-xp-puppy and on a menu item I right click and send to desktop. I see the desktop file (root/desktop) with the programs I want on the desktop. How do I get them onto the desktop? Thanks in advance.

I know a method of two kinds.
The first one: from anywhere you drag an executable/multimedia/document file onto your desktop.
(you may assign an icon to it afterwards: right click on dragged stuff>set icon)
The second the plainest one: go to /usr/share/applications folder, and drag from here any *.desktop file to desktop.

You're very welcome, Partsman! Smile
The kinder ones are the precise systems for me, because it is possible to settle more programs on them unproblematically anyway.
Precise systems somehow more elastic, i think.

Wow! Well done building this! It is a lot of fun. I don't know how you fit so much in. Even Winamp!! (any tips on how to get winamp started from the menu or cli? - I can only seem to start it by clicking /root/test.mp3)

I'm going to have to work out how to use wine now. Love the games you have added too. I tried "Europe" and discovered how bad my geography is Smile

I'm going to spend some time trying to learn how to access and drive everything you have built into this huge distro. Despite the size/contents it seems quick - even just running from live CD so far.

The one thing I have noticed missing so far is my favourite word processor - softmaker Textmaker. If you are taking orders for software to be included in future releases Textmaker (from Freeoffice 2012) would be my one request.

One other thing I noticed is that during firstrun it defaults to a hostname of "puppypc' whereas most newer puppies offer a randomly selected puppypcxxxx to help eliminate conflicts when multiple puppies are on the network. It is easy enough to change during the firstrun of course, but do you think that could be on the list for future releases?

Overall, this is an excellent job from what I have seen so far...

Hello, greengeek!
Thank you for your interest, and sorry, but I will not continue to improve this very much already this kind of puppylinux...
Libre Office Writer is my favourite word processor.
Only this unfortunately not fitted already up onto this CD.
The "winamp" though simply only a skinned Audacious...
Other: I suggest for using wine, go to /root/.wine/drive_c/program files/TOTALCMD folder, and drag the TOTALCMD.EXE to desktop!
You see better then a lot everything Smile

Hello all Very Happy
First let me say thank you csipesz ! For a wonderful pup Wink
I do belive though I have found a problem Confused
I was not able to resize my save file after a fresh frugal install Confused
But I think I have found the problem Wink
I hope !
In usr/share/themes/eXperience/gtk-2.0/ there is a script called : gtkrc
I deleted this file and now I can resize my pupsave file Wink
I only had to reset my wallpaper etc. after deleted the file and rebooted Wink
My intention is to help here as i find this puplet very nice and well done !
please if i am wrong in this someone please do set me strait Wink
I am hoping this will help anyone who is using this wonderful puplet that
csipesz has made and is kind enough to share Wink
Here is the link to my first entry about the resize problem :
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=88291&start=15
Thanks again csipesz keep up your good work Wink

If you corrected his little mistake, prepare a remaster and release valiantly on a newer link!
