In the fbpanel Configuration Manager:

On the first panel Geometry the items at the bottom of the page under the Size Heading, allows you to alter panel Height and Icon Size. Increasing the Icon Size is aht you require.

Thanks! I appreciate your answer but those settings have no effect on the buttons (items) inside the taskbar.
Try it. First, open any program, a browser, let's say. Then increase the values you mentioned and you will see that everything goes bigger *but* the button (item) representing the browser (in this case) inside the taskbar.
Sorry, not sure if I'm making myself clear (my english is pitiful  ).

My apologies. When I posted earlier, i did a quick test and I thought the Taskbar items changed size also when the icons size was changed. Following your last post, I did further changes and as you say the items don't change as you require.

There doesn't appear to be a parameter in the Configuration Manager that will achieve what you require. The width of the Taskbar items can be altered, also Icons only can be displayed, but they remain the same height.

This probably needs radky to advise if what you request is at all possible.

Also, your English was great.

Hi,
i just take a look and same thing for me.
I thought this parameter will be in the Taskbar item but nothing ! There is only a parameter for the width.
You/we need help from radky.

Hi 01101001b, Terry H, and augras,

Go to Fbpanel Configuration Manager -> Geometry -> Icon size

The Icon size option of fbpanel supports the MaxElemHeight parameter which determines the size of launcher icons and notification icons, but this option has no impact on the taskbar which simply displays minified icons of desktop windows.

However, fbpanel does support multiple rows of taskbar icons. For example, set panel height to 64px and icon size to 48px and you will see two rows of taskbar elements rather than one (see graphic below).

I hope this helps. :)

Hi radky,
My initial response was along the lines as you have responded. From my further checking their request, I don't think it is possible within Fbpanel Configuration Manager changes to meet their need, which is why I deferred to you in my second response.

What 01101001b wants is for when the Fbpanel Configuration Manager > Taskbar > Icons > Taskbar icons only, is set to false, he/she wants the Task bar items to also grow vertically in line with icon size increase (no spaces top/bottom?).

Hi Terry,

As currently implemented by Anatoly Asviyan, the fbpanel tasklist (taskbar) does not support the MaxElementHeight parameter. Specifically, the minified desktop windows and associated icons of the tasklist will not change when the panel height is increased or when you change the icon size in the geometry tab. There is no configuration parameter to independently modify the height of the taskbar items.

In other words, fbpanel supports rows of minified desktop windows in the taskbar, but the tasklist elements do not increase in size. However, other panel elements such as the launcher icons and notification icons do support the MaxElementHeight parameter and will change size accordingly.

I hope this helps.

Terry H, radky and augras, thank you all for your interest in this issue!
As all of you have made clear, increasing taskbar items' height in fbpanel is not feasible at the moment.

My first choice has always been LxPanel (haven't heard of fbpanel until I switch to Dpup) and I was really interested in giving fbpanel a try. I found it really solid and fast, and I was about to stick with it 'til I bumped into this minor issue, which is for me a dealbreaker.

I replaced fbpanel with lxpanel and it does the job. Hope to give fbpanel another try sooner or later.

Thx for your help!

I am unable to download this pet. All I get is 403:Forbidden.
Does anyone have it stored anywhere please?
Thanks.

403 for 32-bit file too.

G'day,

I just tried to download the 32-bit version but also got the 403 message.

I'm interested in trying different window managers in new Pups (e.g. Bionic/Lx/Stretch) to see if the small differences between them I see are affected by the window manager. The kernel is irrelevant as far as I can tell.

It seems the smokey01 server has been inaccessible since Friday (Jun 29).

Grant should be aware of this when he checks his PM tomorrow.

Everything is ok : i was not on jwm but the lxde with openbox and lxpanel. On jwm it works !
But i lost the functionnality to browse the network in PcmanFm and it is what i'm looking for. I think it works with some parts of lxde that are not present when i'm on fb-box. I don't really understand because all the packages are still here : maybe some services to start : i hope.

Hi Philippe,

The WM-Switcher utility in FbBox mediates switching between the FbBox desktop environment and the standard JWM desktop. Switching to other desktop environments is not supported.

FbBox supports most Woof-based Puppies but is not designed for integration with custom derivatives such as LxPup.

If I understand correctly, Lxpup uses gvfs as a userspace virtual filesystem and gvfs-backend enables browsing network shares in PcmanFm. Standard Puppy and FbBox do not employ gvfs.

I hope this helps. :)
