Unable to make installed VLC work

#1 Post by julianloui »

I have downloaded and installed in my Browser Linux Don't Workboth VLC-1.0.6 and vlc-1.1.7 packages successfully but they don't work.

I've deleted VLC-1.0.6 from Browser LInux as it might require dependencies. vlc-1.1.7 is supposed to be self-sufficient. When I click on vlc.desktop, it just blinks and nothing else happens. When I drag a .MOV file over the VLC icon, nothing happens either.

Can someone help me? Thanks.

Julian- nevermind. The portable I had for ya isn't gonna work. Are you still running BL-401?

Semme,

Thanks for alerting me. Actually I discovered that I couldn't even install "vlc 1.1.5". They certainly have a strange way to name a file by adding a space within the file name. But, thank you very much for your attempt to help. I appreciate it very much,

By the way, I've had the same trouble in running Mplayer after installing it. I guess the problems may be due to my running BL-4.01 (for my wife). My regular Linux distribution is Ubuntu 12.04.
