I have an Acer Aspire 5050 that I booted with a live CD of Slacko 5.7 and using Barry's networking program, found and successfully connected my home wifi. I installed it, rebooted and the only network adapter that showed up in the networking program was for the ethernet. In other words, my wifi was discovered and worked when in live CD, but disappeared when installed.
Any ideas?
Slacko 5.7 live CD V Install
How installed?
Full or frugal?
Partition format?
Anything else on partition?
Have you tried to delete and do a fresh re-install?
Is this a full install?
Full installs in Slacko 5.7 sometimes do not go completely well.
Try to delete and reinstall.
Could be a timing thing.
Hold up booting when you get to the boot menu.
Give it a 15 sec to 1 min for the computer to warm up.
Now select Slacko in the menu to boot.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Slacko sometimes has this problem.
I have noticed a post or 2 about the firmware not being unpacked from the /lib/modules/all-firmware to /lib/firmware.
In /lib/modules/all-firmware
Look for the name that will match your device.
Just unpack it.
Place it into /lib/firmware

Re: Slacko 5.7 live CD V Install
Use lsmod in a terminal to see if the wl driver is being loaded - if it is, blacklist it and reboot.johntheminer wrote:I have an Acer Aspire 5050 that I booted with a live CD of Slacko 5.7 and using Barry's networking program, found and successfully connected my home wifi. Unfortunately the wl driver has a bad habit of erroneously claiming other wifi devices after the 1st reboot that it shouldn't....
