Minecraft needs kmod dependency

(This is my first post, so I apologize ahead of time for anything stupid that I might say or do.) I installed a few different JRE packages while I was trying to get Minecraft to run on Precise 5.7.1. They all say that they are missing kmod. I tried to find it in the Package Manager, but couldn't. I would greatly appreciate any info on what kmod does and how to install it.
