Hi josepjp2424 !
as wheezy unconditional lover  , i could'nt resist to get a try ...

runs OOTB like a charm on this old Brookdale 82845G video chip PIV featured trunk!

just to mention:

- when right clicking inside a rox window to get the pop up menu,
selecting Window>Terminal here does not open a roxterm as expected.

- wacom.ko is missing inside :lib/modules/.../drivers/imput/tablet/
(is present in hid (stands for hidden ?)
all kernel an Xorg wacom drivers may be found here compiled for k3.17.7

Muchos gracias !

I think there should be red and green dots for the yes-no buttons.

Gracias for Pupjibaro

Thank you for making Pupjibaro Wheezy. It's worked OOTB, booting into a very attractive deskop. It seems very fast. But that may be because I haven't, as yet, loaded it down with applications.

I am very pleased to see a new debian based Pup.

So far, the only sour note has been, as charlie6 mentioned, right-clicking an empty space in a rox window and selecting "terminal here" doesn't result in the appearance of a terminal. Let me make this clear, any terminal and this has nothing to do with the use of a wacomb tablet. My command was issued via an ordinary mouse.

With spacefm as file-manager, right-clicking an empty space and selecting "Terminal Here" also does not work. However, The F4-Key on its Toolbar will open a terminal at the desired location once you've set Toolbar>View>Preferences>Advanced to use one of the Terminals you have.

Tried a couple of the Chromium.SFSes unsuccessfully. Shinobar's Google-Chrome-portable worked. The last time I downloaded (or updated) it, it was using version 37. Perhaps a current install (or update) would bring it to the current version.

Portable-Wine also works.

But, at any rate, thanks again

Hi, guys.

I can't get it to load X...
Stays forever on the black boot console at "loading window manager"...
Any particular boot code I need to add to or use on the grub "kernel" line?

Or maybe it's for 64-bit computers only?

Thanks in advance.

I use a 'find' line in my menu.lst
Then the usual lines to load the kernel.
Check if there is a .gz suffix since some puppies have a different compression method.

I use an IBM desktop with intel graphics

don570, Lxappearance creates a .gtkrc-2.0 and takes the Compass icons from /usr/share/icons.
I use Lxappearance because the GTK switcher in Puppy does not make it recognize those icons, and spacefm is not displayed properly.
Puppy should have something like Lxappearance.

This can be easily fixed in 3 ways (maybe 4. I didn't dig that deep):

Right click in an open ROX window and choose Options - Menus. Change "lxterminal -l" to "roxterm" or "xterm". Then click OK. Problem filxed.

Or install lxterminal from PPM.

Nice job Jose, I'm enjoying using it so far and also learning some Espanol as well. :D

Hello josejp2424.

I did get your pupjibaro wheezy up and running on another machine than the one on
page 1. pupjibaro-wheezy is very beautiful, really. You paid a lot attention to detail on
the desktop and it shows.

But yikes! your pup is using eglibc 2.13... (The current stable version is 2.22.)

As you may know the new palemoon versions (vivaldi, too) refuse to work on 32-bit
computers that do not have the SS3 instruction on the CPU. So I couldn't use it.

Barry's seamonkey with only the composer and the browser was not available from the
pupjibaro ppm even after updating the ppm depots. (I tried twice.)

So I was out of luck. I dug out an old version (3.0.2) of dillo to do a bit of browsing.

I went to the Firefox site, and it said that the new Firefox 40 needed GTK-3 in the OS,
which pupjibaro wheezy does not have.

I couldn't use palemoon, I coudln't use firefox, I couldn't use seamonkey. I tried an old
links2 I had, but the libtiff.so.5 library was missing...

Also, it's configured not for 3 three jwm desktops, but just one, eh?

In conclusion, pupjibaro-wheezy is beautiful to look at, but to be productive on it, I'll have
to buy a newer computer and find a way to install a more up-to-date glibc.

Sorry for the bad news. Still, best regards.

felicitaciones ... excelente

#19 Post by adrianespaña »

Found this: «Experimental Libc6 2.17» that is reported to work fine on a wheezy flavour distro called SteamOS.

here the links: (Debian Dog thread)
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 931#829931

I did'nt got a try ... bcoz lack of (free)time...

HTH >>---> have fun ! :)
Charlie
ps: this might be a call for glibc upgrade on Pupjibaro Wheezy ...! ...hmmm...?
