Routing probs and a useful utility Linipcfg (like winipcfg)

#1 Post by LazyLabrador »

I set a old box with Puppy 2 for some friends who only have dial-up. I set it up at my home running with an ethernet card into an ASDL router, but at their place with no ethernet connection ,puppy would stall for 60 sec DHCP timeout on boot, so I put in a static address to stop that and successfully configured the dialup.
However a few days later I was told it dialed up but no browsing.
My conclusion is that the static ethernet address to nowhere was being interpreted as being "up" and had the routing priority over the dialup.
In the meantime I found the above mentioned little utility that shows the dynamic or static ip adresses and dns severs configured for various interfaces. It would be a good addition to pupgets.
