Could I upgrade from within puppy linux?

#1 Post by Guest »

I downloaded the .iso to my puppylinux, but what should I do then?
Since I only have CD-RW's and last time i had to use a special program to burn it a certain way, is there some sort of feature that allows upgrade from within puppy linux itself?

You will still have to burn the iso to disk but you can do this in Puppy, the Wiki,

http://www.goosee.com/puppy/wikka/AbsoluteBeginners

has instructions on how to do this.

Then it is just a matter of running the live CD and starting the install wizard and taking the upgrade option.

If you have any doubts do a backup of the pup001 file on your hard drive so you will not lose your settings and data.

What's the best way to backup pup001 using Puppy CD tools?

Say, Ian, how would you recommend I backup my pup001 file from the Puppy CD? I've increased the size of my pup001 file to more than 2 GB, so it won't fit on a CD, and I haven't found a way to record the pup001 file to a DVD using the Puppy CD tools.

The next question, of course, would be 'how do I restore my pup001 file from the backup?' (Again, using the Puppy CD tools.)
