Subject description: (Solved)

I used mhWaveEdit to record, but there is no sound when I play it back.

My speakers and microphone work.

If I were you, I'd experiment with my Idea "alsamixer" settings.

Also check the format mhWaveEdit recorded in. MhWaveEdit can convert different formats.

So are you still looking for help?

In what format did you record the files? WAV? MP3?

Were you recording through a mic? During recording, did the the needle in the volume meter move?

If you load a file back into mhWaveEdit, does it appear to contain audio or is it just a flat line?

I recorded as a wav.

Volume meter did not move.

Playback was a flat line.

Then what conclusion can you make? See Semme's suggestion above. Where have you looked to enable the mic in Puppy?

I have it working but there is a little feedback even when not recording.

Little more work.

I messed around with alsamixer and changed a lot of settings.

I don't recall the order as it was many iterations.

Feedback was caused by my master volume being set too high.

Alles is gut. Smile

For the benefit of other users, please state what sound card you have and what settings were needed to enable the mic.

Have you forgotten anything else?

With master turned down to eliminate speaker feedback, I can no longer hear well enuf for other applications and I have to turn it up.

I recorded using OpenSuse and everything works fine,
so I assume that my sound card is o.k.
