unreliable auto-connect to internet via wifi Slacko-5.7

I can't tell if it's my phone or the PC with the problem, but I was under the impression that it would auto-connect on boot, or if I left & returned to operational range. Neither is reliable. BTW, I've set up my email accounts but if I click an email address on a webpage it tries to establish a new email address/newsgroup/???? There's no option to use existing accounts, nor are they auto selected. Thunderbird is my choice, is there a flag I've missed. Attached is file of internet logs.
