I was supposed to include guvcview, which depends on v4l2, which has builtin a qt gui.. best explanation I have .. Razz

I am a bit more liberal with inclusions in 64 bit, full samba for a start, plus some other useful things like guvcview (web-cam app), however I will have to filter some stuff, probably at least the menu items.

Barry's approach would be to make a template and screen whatever he could. That's fine, but to take advantage of the upstream repos this breaks dependency. It's a balancing act.

Good work! Definitely going to play with it once woof-CE builds a sane, stable Slacko64 OOTB.

Busy times here, wish I could participate in this development round.

Hello 01micko

5.9.1 seems just like 5.8.8: no problems with the separate kernel.

The shutdown bug that seems to affect Woof-CE puppies is still there:

The first shutdown is OK. Once the savefile is created subsequent shutdowns do not unmount the FAT32 home partition properly.

I also noticed that the firewall wizard does not write anything to rc.local.

Thank you for this.

There is one particularly embarrasing bug, a lazy copy/paste in a woof post install script.

/usr/bin/bash and /usr/bin/grep both point to /bin/sed!!! I was trying to "ldd" something and was getting sed errors!

Might explain some weirdness.. but hey, my excuse is that it's alpha!

Embarassed

I'm not sure yet, but it stands to reason; guess_fstype is not detecting vfat partitions and it may (or may not) be the cause of your bug.
I have fixed it and can attach the bins ('bins' is because one is static for the initrd.gz).

The static one, guess_fstype-static64, should be renamed guess_fstype and put inside initrd.gz. The othe one can replace the current /usr/bin/guess_fstype.

Credit for the discovery to jamesbond.

Alright! Smile
One of the most crucial things for me in 64bit Puppy will be ability to run 32bit binaries.
I saw @Nabble that IA32_EMULATION is now enabled, so I copied stuff from /lib & /usr/lib from Slacko-5.9.3 into Slacko64's and I'm almost there, but still something related to GTK, I guess, is missing (see the screenshot).
What else should I copy?

Any chance also for 32bit build? I tried, but failed...

PS. xorgwizard still doesn't work...

Thanks &
Greetings!

As far as I understand it's static binaries unless you have the compatibility libraries installed.

EDIT: why don't you make an sfs and include as much as you want? Can't harm anything that way, well not too much Smile

EDIT: ah.. did you update the 32 bit gdk_pixbuf cache? Might be an issue with Barry's symlink which I argued heavily against and lost. We can fix that now. (re link to /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuff.loaders Wink )

Manual frugal install to a 32gb sdhc card (dual booting with 593)

video-info-glx 1.5.3 Wed 25 Jun 2014 on Slacko64 Puppy 5.9.1 Linux 3.12.22 x86_64

oem: ATI ATOMBIOS
product: RS780 01.00
X Server: Xorg Driver: radeon
X.Org version: 1.14.3
dimensions: 3840x1080 pixels (508x285 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.4
OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS780

AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 810 Processor

Just beginning to test but good so far.
I used the SlackBuild + made a package-zarfy-0.1.0.pet to install
zarfy.
I edited the hidden .spot-status file to run firefox as spot and then
ran loginmanager in the terminal, it's working.

Of course! So I applied the brutal method - loaded the entire puppy_slacko_5.9.3.sfs and now it's working.
Still dunno absence of which files was the culprit though. Laughing
But I'll find it one day. Wink

You mean this?
Code:
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache

Didn't do the trick, but led me to /etc/ and indeed, it was one, tiny /etc/pango/i486-slackware-linux/pango.modules.

Thanks again!

Greetings!

I added some apps with PPM.
Vlc will only run as user spot.

EDIT:
Installing the flashplayer plugin and running firefox as user spot doesn't crash firefox.
Also, this Slacko64 alpha runs fast Smile

I've never poked about in initrd.gz before, as usual it turns out that puppy has an easy way of doing it.

Sadly the result is no different.

I copied the files over and each time it asked if I wanted to replace, so I had the right filename.

The only oddity was that the original guess_fstype in the initrd.gz was about twice the size of the one replacing it.

EDIT

Running fatdog, which does not have the problem, then shutting down, does NOT clear the error.

I guess that slackosave.2fs must be left open when slacko64 shuts down, and fatdog would not access it.

Manual frugal install to a 16gb sdhc card.

video-info-glx 1.5.3 Wed 25 Jun 2014 on Slacko64 Puppy 5.9.1 Linux 3.12.22 x86_64
0.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 220] (rev a2)
oem: NVIDIA
product: GT216 Board - 0682vb12 Chip Rev
X Server: Xorg Driver: nvidia
X.Org version: 1.14.3
dimensions: 3840x1080 pixels (1049x292 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GT 220/PCIe/SSE2

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
Core 0: @2003 1: @2003 MHz

I fiddled around until I got the proprietary Nvidia driver installed
but xorgwizard is still broken in 5.9.1

The firewall wizard isn't working.
PPM worked to install sakura.

The installation that I did earlier on my pc with the ati card is
working great, not this one though Sad

You may have done this earlier a mon5h or so ago. Fatdog64 had a fix for bluray limits I think in growisofs. if you are not using his source please do. I relocated my pack of rewritable bluray media and having some fun testing fatdog64 improvements.
Funny how 64bit stuff goes dormant then bang new stuff to test. Very Happy So glad I haven't burned up my datalimit on youtube videos. Cool was tempted found a local lady who cans everything.. and she has a mountain of youtube videos. Confused

So did a quick test on Acer AO 722.

1. It takes a looong time until the X is reached.
But this time it doesn't seem to be related to firmware (contents of /lib/firmware/radeon look complete).
Right after "Loading kernel modules" the screen resolution should get changed, but it happens much later, ~30 seconds after "Starting X..." and only then the desktop appears.

2. /etc/acpi/actions/suspend.sh script is being invoked twice, on open and close.
Old problem, fixed here.

3. The rest, like WiFi etc., seem ok at first glance.

Btw, I wonder if any of ALSA/Kernel devs own a (quite) modern Acer netbook, because the newer kernel is, the worse job it does in recognizing 722's sound card.
3.2.x-3.10.x were showing two "cards" (HDMI & SB).
I was hoping it will get better in later kernels, but now (k3.12.x) it shows three cards (the new one is "beep" device or sth). Same story with k3.15.1.
And of course the *proper* card (SB) is still last on the index.
Fortunately, MultiSndCrdWiz helps. [/rant]

Greetings!
