Booting puppy from USB when BIOS doesn't support function

#1 Post by peterw »

I am new to linux and puppy and I am very impressed. I have Puppy 2.01r Sea Monkey on USB stick and it works fine on computers that allow booting from USB. To extend my use of device I believe it should be possible to make a floppy drive with booting instructions and USB reading instructions such that when using an "old" computer boots it reads the A drive which redirects the boot to go to the USB port to load Puppy.

Is there such a programme that I can download or how should I attempt to create one?

Remember I am very much a newbie.

If you are booting from a USB 1.1 port you will find it very slow. But if for example you have a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card, take a look at this.
