Hi,

Hi,

I was just thinking we can load puppy onto HD or a ZIP disc or other media so why can't we install puppy from HD to DVD after we have configured it? Then we could clone it to other computers.

O.K. so we could do that on DVD and then clone it to HD but I just thought that we alter the config and install programs after HD install then we cannot create a dvd from the HD.

Just a thought!

Regards
Michael

If the HD is small <5G then a direct backup is possible.

growisofs -Z /dev/dvd=/dev/hda (this will include booting area)
till DVD runs out

or for just a 4.3G partition
growisofs -Z /dev/dvd=/dev/hda1

I backup my 4.3 windowsXP main partition this way.

#2 a bootable DVD from a HD
see link (PLACEHOLDER)
also puppywiki has more info.
