I am trying to set up tahrPUP.
  1. I boot up
  2. set country and time etc,
  3. connect to internet
  4. reboot make a 512mb save file
  5. boot again
  6. open quickpet
  7. run update
  8. apply tahrPUP bug fix.
all seems ok until i restart x then i get a popup window saying this
Quote:
your old pinboard file has been converted to the new xml format
I have tried running
  1. updating quickpet and running the applying the tahrpup but gix.
  2. adding manual desktop background.
  3. open rox and right click within it and go to options and go to pinboard to check settings (all ok)
  4. under pinbopard went to desktop to check settings (all ok)
so after doing this i am at a loss as to what is going on. i think that the fact that the pinboard file is changed to teh new xml format might be what is going on.

any help and ideas on this would be appreciated.

Hello, HiDeHo.

It's an old problem... Not specifically Tahr Puppy's.

Please post here your file ~/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin
You should have something like this

Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<pinboard>
  <backdrop style="Fit">/path/and/filename_of_picture.jpg</backdrop>
  <icon x="320" y="960" label="Muppy-Filer">/usr/local/Muppy-Filer/Muppy-Filer</icon>
(follows a list of icons + their position + programs)
</pinboard>

Please note the structure.

The proper command to call it is, from terminal:
Code:
rox -p=/root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin

That's where Puppy stores the ROX pinboard file.
If you just use
Code:
rox -p=/root/PuppyPin

OR
Code:
rox -p=PuppyPin

you get an empty backdrop and/or the "malformed" message you described.

Tell me how it goes?

BFN.

hi HiDeHo,

not sure why it did that .... you can get the original PuppyPin from the puppy.sfs.. left click on it to mount it ... and copy /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin and globicons to the same place in the file system..... and then restart x
