Guys, trying Slacko64 I get this silly error, which I don't get when trying any other Puppy distribution, e.g. Slacko 32bit.

Hardware is Dell D430 Dual Core (64bit processor), using Unetbootin to write the ISO to a Sandisk USB stick. I've used this process successfully many times with different puppy flavours (Fatdog64, Lupu, Slacko 32bit 5.5 onward, LxPup etc) and other Distros.

So after attempting to search for Puppy Files Slacko64 states
"puppy_slacko64_5.9.1.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console..."

Now when I view the contents of the USB under Lubuntu, I see this SFS file, so it's there, and correctly named.

Searched the forum and someone else had this problem in the past but the answer he got was unsatisfactory.

So does anyone know the fix?

Hi gcmartin, presume you mean syslinux.cfg and isolinux.cfg files, which are attached in the ZIP.

First you need to understand that Slacko 64-5.9.1 is alpha status.
Just released for testing and bug fixing, so will be very buggy.

You really need to report problems in the Slacko 64 6.0 alpha topic.

This is usually the cause of boot problems with installing using Unetbootin.

Try this:

Look on the flash drive for the file syslinux.cfg. If it contains the clause "pmedia=cd" or something else, change it to "pmedia=usbflash".

Your syslinux.cfg

default puppy
display boot.msg
prompt 1
timeout 50

F1 boot.msg
F2 help.msg
F3 help2.msg

label puppy
kernel vmlinuz
append initrd=initrd.gz pmedia=cd
