in a fresh slacko 6.3.2., when i try to install the mydbox 1.2.pet package, i get a "failed to install" message. no dropbox has been formerly installed. the dbus 1.6 is installed in this distribution. i get the same error message when wanting to install the dbus 1.12.pet package. any help?

I have tested working mydbox-1.2_noarch.pet in my frugal install of slacko 6.3.2. Perhaps was the download link temporaly unavailable? Try again.

thank you for your kind reply. yes, now the installation worked. but there is no menu entry, and i don't know how to start mydbox or the dropbox installer.

I confirm it's working for me in a fresh install of slacko 6.3.2 32 bit. No need to install an alien dbus.

thank you for your feedback. i don't have any idea why i get a "failed to install" message when clicking on the mydbox.pet package. i tried to give all permissions to the file, but it does not help.
on the other slacko 632 that i am currently using, the package installs itself, it is said that the menu entries are updated. but i don't see anyway to start the dropbox process. there is no such an entry in the menu.

Any one knows what the "read carefully" message that pops up right after installation says? I pressed space key before reading it by accident and couldn't read what it says? :(

Hello,
Any one knows what the "read carefully" message that pops up right after installation says? I pressed space key before reading it by accident and couldn't read what it says? Sad
This box will not disapper until you will click 'OK' button. Leave it on the screen, to remember things to do. In the meantime, Dropbox will start. This is the final step of this installer.
Important to know: for security reasons, especially if you run as root and do not need following service, it is a good choice to close, on your system, 17500 listen ports (TCP/UDP), used by Dropbox for LAN synchronization. You can do it, permanently, by right clicking on your Dropbox icon in the system tray, choosing to untick 'Preferences' > 'Bandwidth' > 'Enable LAN sync'. Exit and start again Dropbox (there is an entry in Internet menu) to fix the change.
Cordialement.

Fork of MyDbox project named as original one

Cordialement.
Hello Argolance,

MyDbox is not an orphan project, only a software that seems to already fit most of Puppy official (maybe not all puplet) user needs as it is now (my last version 1.2), therefore it's not frequently upgraded.
In case of doubts about its development, everybody can find my e-mail address in source code and, if Puppy forum user, can also write me in private mode. It would have been nice if you did it. Instead, I just saw (due to a notification problem) your package (in multiple versions), named as my original MyDbox.
I my opinion, yours is a fork of my project. Actually, my software's philosophy is very different from yours. For example (not the only one), mine is acting like "a ghost" on the user box, leaving a very clean system, only Dropbox and an option to uninstall.
To avoid confusion and allow me to continue my work when really needed (at my discretion, bugs, user requests, etc.), I ask you to rename your project and rename your thread about MyDbox with that new name.

Thank you.

Regards.

I'm working on new MyDbox right now, so I'll be still around.

@forum people/Puppy Linux users: THANK YOU :) <3 for all your feedbacks and downloads of this software (counter, on first post of this thread, marks less than true, because early MyDbox versions were deleted, instead of updated, and it isn't counting downloads from my repo and Tahr PM downloads - official thanks to 666philb who had trusted this little utility <3 :) -).
