Thank you step, SFR and all other contributors.

SFR said: "All TXZ packages are available via GSlapt or directly on http://distro.ibiblio.org/fatdog/contrib/packages/700/.

All SFS packages are available only directly on http://distro.ibiblio.org/fatdog/contrib/sfs/700/.

This means they are also available from all Fatdog64 mirrors like nluug.nl, uoc.gr, aarnet and others.

This is for sopcast-player-0.8.5-x86_64-1.txz , an internet television player .
md5sum : 4cfdd9cd719fedec3d87be7f1feca89b
The package installs both the front-end GUI and the back-end client .
It runs under spot . It can be used by Seamonkey or Firefox as an external player
or it can play directly sop:// streams . VLC can be used as an external player for SopCast-Player .
It needs the 32bit-slacko sfs loaded . It depends on :
python-2.7.6
gettext-0.18.3.2
python-setuptools-12.0.4
python-pygobject-2.28.6
python-pygtk-2.24.0
python-py2cairo-1.10.0

They are all in the repos .
NOTE : In the terminal there are two warnings , but it works well .
If anybody wishes to improve it and add it to the repo - I'd be glad :D

The slack-required file can include version information. So you could re-write it as

Code: Select all

python >= 2.7.6-x86_64-1
gettext >= 0.18.3.2-x86_64-1
python-setuptools >= 12.0.4-x86_64-1
python-pygobject >= 2.28.6-x86_64-1
python-pygtk >= 2.24.0-x86_64-1
python-py2cairo >= 1.10.0-x86_64-1

Thank you @step for the link and the advice !
The slack-required file of the package actually contains only the package-names :

Code: Select all

python
gettext
python-setuptools
python-pygobject
python-pygtk
python-py2cairo
I respected this way what I've seen in the slack-required files of those dependencies .

I'm reasonably confident JB was insinuating a NO -- They're NOT scanned.

On the other side of the coin, there's nothing stop'in you from handling that task.

Anyway you slice it, the simple act of being online assumes some level of risk.

What does that have to do with the question of are forum users contributed Packages checked for malicious files???

1...... Yes - they are checked for malicious content and code before being made public for others to use.

2...... No - forum users are free to infect other forum users until someone notices.

anything other than a yes or no based answer is illogical that anyone could make a decision from , you can't make an informed decision without being informed.

you still can't make an informed decision on something that is maybe or maybe not be being insinuated and the strange cryptic reply and avoidance or a simple yes or no answer looks dishonest as if something is purposely being hidden.

I've instaled wine for fatdog64 v701 locate here:
wine-1.7.39-v2.1.sfs

I ran regedit, and I noticed that under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment

that the PATH environment variable isn't set.
https://www.winehq.org/docs/wineusr-gui ... -variables

This means for instance if I type:
wine wineconsole

that wine won't be able to find the wineconsole, and therefore throw an error.

The minimum path variable is:

Code: Select all

%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000549.htm

according to computerhope. However, the last path I don't recognize. I wonder what is in:

Code: Select all

%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem

exiftool 9.76 (package rev. 2). Exiftool needs perl, which is included in the Fatdog64 devx SFS. Fotoxx uses exiftool to show JPEG comments (menu Info>View Info). Findnrun 2.0 (Filmstrip plugin) uses exiftool to search inside image captions. Package includes ROXapp and ROX right-click menu entry for JPEG files. Install from package manager.

As I'm writing this I still don't see the uploaded file on biblio. It may take a few hours to show up...

Mkvtoolnix contains tools to create, alter and inspect Matroska files .
mkvtoolnix-7.9.0-700-wxw.sfs : with GUI based on wxwidgets .
md5sum : 62b05b0c2a281ff053ae82d8d8cac39c
When mkvinfo starts there is a warning due to the fact that libpng-1.6 doesn't like sRGB profile . No harm .
mkvtoolnix-8.8.0-700-qt5.sfs : with GUI based on Qt5 .
md5sum : 4fa5593ff68ef0d68cf7aa11824a2144
With qt5-5.4.1 it works as is . But if you prefer qt5-5.3.2 , it needs libicu package from the repo.
