Thank you, Gobbi, for making this new package! It works well for me, so it has replaced my older version on my PC.

Exiftool reads/writes metadata information for lots of file types (audio/video and more), so I find it convenient to add it as a rox right-click SendTo item. Here's how.

Install Gobbi's package.
Open one rox window in ~/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/SendTo. Click the eye icon. If you don't see a folder named ".all" create one. Do the same for a folder named ".group".
Open _another_ rox window in /usr/local/apps.
Drag the folder "ExifTool" in the second window over the folder ".all" in the first window, drop and select "Link absolute". Do the same over the folder ".group". Note: Do include a single dot before the names "all" and "group".

Now when you select one or more objects in a rox window and right click you should see an "ExifTool" entry in the top popup menu, or sometimes in the SendTo sub-menu. Click that entry to view an Xdialog window holding a (long) list of metadata information for the selected objects.

Exiftool works also from the command line: exiftool --help

Wine 2.0.RC3 (Clipboard issues patched)

#138 Post by jake29 »

Here is a small contribution. It's something I have wanted for many years.

This is the latest build of Wine with Clipboard issues patched. It is 32-bit only.

Wine-2.0.RC3-patched-710-1.sfs

To describe what is possible with this version of Wine, here is a scenario:

Code: Select all

I use a HQ TTS voice installed in Wine, along with a TTS Reader to utilise it. With this build of Wine, I can highlight a news article in Chrome (Autocopy extension installed), and the TTS Reader will automatically start reading the text as it has been monitoring Fatdog64's clipboard.

Thank you, Jake, so far it seems to run well here, and the clipboard integration between Linux and Windows is very useful, something I have missed a lot in other versions. I'm not familiar with the clipboard patch, can you please point me to info and download pages where you got it?

@step - The Clipboard fix has now been implemented in Wine 2.0-rc5.

https://www.winehq.org/announce/2.0-rc5

I will contribute a pet / sfs for the final 2.0 release, unless someone beats me to it.

@jake29, thanks for the info. I will wait for 2.0 final then. Meanwhile, I noticed that the file system structure of your RC3 build is quite different from the structure that the Fatdog64 wine txz and sfs use. Any particular reason?

I only followed the commands outlined in the Fatdog64 FAQ. I know more is required to make a full package - 32bit/64bit - but that sfs does work and saved some space. I haven't deliberately changed the system structure.

Chromium-55 sfs for Fatdog 710. 60M, md5sum 1176ef3232134698e5e651f2da7c5316.
Starts in <5s, shaking my loyalty to Vivaldi! Source: chromium_55.0.2883.75-1-deb8u1_amd64.deb. Changes and libs for Fatdog 710:
- /usr/bin/chromium,line 45: DIST="Fatdog `cat /etc/fatdog-version`" :)
- desktop file changed to Exec=run-as-spot /usr/bin/chromium %U
- libstdc++.so.6.0.20 + link from libstdc++6_6.9.2-10_amd64.deb
- libwebpdemux.so.1.0.1 + link from libwebpdemux1_0.4.1-1.2+b2_amd64.deb
- libwebp.so.5.0.1 + link from libwebp5_0.4.1-1.2+b2_amd64.deb

If you want flash, https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer, extract, move libpepflashplayer.so into /usr/lib/chromium/plugins (path set in /etc/chromium.d/pepperflashplugin). Restart chromium, go to chrome://plugins & check "Always allow to run", restart chromium again. (Thanks, Mike Walsh)

Debian does not provide clearkeys or widevine libs.

@step - Earlier in this thread you posted that 'redshift v1.11' is available via package manager, however I found only v1.10 was listed. Maybe I'm missing something, but anyway I compiled my own version.

redshift v1.11 adjusts the color temperature of your screen according to your surroundings.

I personally use it as follows: (Via Terminal)

Code: Select all

Night mode: redshift -O 2000
Day Mode: redshift -O 5500

@jake29,

I think redshift is in the 700 repo. My "packages" post is divided into three sections. The 700 section implies the 700 repo. I will update my post to make it clearer. You may want to add the 700 repo to gslapt, as many 700 packages work on 710 too.

edit: done

Recent uploads for Fatdog64-710:
  • xwit 3.4 doesn't need a window manager. Xwit will resize, iconify, pop, and move windows, mostly without involving a window manager. Also change an icon, title or name, set the screen saver going, change key autorepeat settings, move the mouse cursor, etc. Install from package manager.
  • devilspie2 0.42 is a window matching utility that performs Lua script-based actions on windows. Install from package manager. Depends: Lua (devx or repo) and libwnck (repo).
  • gtkparasite 0.2.0.71.0a0c90b - GTK+ debugging and development tool for GTK+2 applications. Install from package manager. This is the last version that supports GTK+-2.0. To run it you need python 2.7 loaded, hence the devx SFS.
  • Grub4Dos fatdog.xpm splash image.
  • mpg123 1.23.8 - command-line mp3 decoder and (streaming) player. Install from package manager.
  • feh 2.18 - an X11 image viewer aimed mostly at console users. Install from package manager.

@smokey01, nice app, thank you. Have you figure out a way to import notecase files into cherrytree?

Upload Java JDK 8u121, get it from SFS Manager or from here: http://distro.ibiblio.org/fatdog/sfs/710/. It is listed in 710 but it's actually version-agnostic and can be used by earlier versions as well.

EDIT2: I have re-uploaded the 4.4.52-rt63 kernel. This kernel is configured for low-latency work, such as audio recording etc. It is patched with rt (real-time) patches, and is configured for PREEMPT_RTB (Basic RT). This is somewhere between "low-latency" kernel and "fully preemptible". The fully preemptible kernel - which I uploaded previously - didn't work; it was too unstable and had unpredictable lockups too often for comfort.

It's here: http://distro.ibiblio.org/fatdog/kernels/710 and as above (from SFS Manager). Guide to replace kernel: http://distro.ibiblio.org/fatdog/web/faqs/kernel.html

This is
Xfce4-4.10-x86_64-710.sfs - sha1 : 0b6031397f2aeb16a6a2357caa4eaebf118b8b9c
More than half of it , it's from the repo , so you might have perl, gstreamer, gvfs and some libraries loaded already . No gtk3 . I separated the locales from the main sfs . I borrowed from puppy community and I thank for XfcePowerTools , pup-volume-monitor , window manager switcher and the shutdown-gui script .

First of all : Once loaded and started , I couldn't unload the sfs ; in terminal I got "Device or resource busy" . Do make a backup of your savefile or try it with no savefile :!:
To start - after loading the sfs , right-click for menu : Desktop -> A WM Switcher .
After starting Xfce you will see warnings , because sven already takes care of some keybindings . To get rid of warnings you should choose which program should take care of those keybindings : right-click on sven's icon from the panel or Xfce Menu -> Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts .
I suggest to install at least one more icon theme , for instance gnome icon theme from the repo is a valid one . I made some initial settings and put in a few plugins and apps.
A separate tarball for locales with packages in it :
Xfce4-4.10-nls-x86_64-710.tar.xz - sha1 : c543421f4e603b5de2d8ed5fbb70172e4d4e0577

I have chosen Xfce4-4.10 because I had problems with Xfce4-4.12 . The icon theme I could change it only manually with no GUI , editing /root/.gtkrc.mine file . Only from Change theme GTK theme chooser from Fatdog's Control Panel I was able to change themes and Xfce4-4.12 it's fatter too : it also loads gtk3 and deps , gstreamer2 and its plugins.
