Frisbee phenomenon - please enter ssid
Frisbee phenomenon - please enter ssid
Hi folks - sometimes I experience a curious phenomenon when using Frisbee. Many times, when I connect to an open wifi network I just select the line displaying the bssid I want, and click connect. Other times, unpredictably, I can do that, and a small popup will appear, asking me to type the ssid. It's not a problem for me at all, but I've been curious - why does it do that? Sometimes but not at other times? I wonder about what is occurring. Why does it ask for ssid when it's already displaying the ssid to me?
What a coincidence! In my testing of frisbee-1.2.3, released today, I saw that prompt, as well. I did not test long enough to see that it is intermittent. Apparently, the code thinks it does not have the SSID, although I would expect it to get it from the entry. That will have to go on my to-do list for a later version. Any insight you can give me about this is welcome, but better posted in the "Frisbee Beta" thread, which acts as the development thread for the current frisbees:

Hello, rerwin! Wow that's sooo weird! This is perfect because it hasn't happened to me for weeks, and then I come home tonight and there it is all of a sudden! I had a really good chuckle. Serendipity, I guess. Ok I'm not sure I have much insight to offer, but I will take the conversation over there.
When there is an open network the ssid appears in the column for type of security/encryption. I assume this shifts the other columns also and frisbee is misled. Solution is to use wifi-connect instead

The SSID column problem is fixed in frisbee-1.4.2 and is described here:

I suspect that stray_dog's problem is that a "hidden" SSID is encountered, requiring assistance from the user.
