Strange Comcast high speed modem problem

#1 Post by groze6565 »

The problem is Puppy wary & slacko don't get along with my high speed modem. The modem doesn't like Puppy. When using puppy Ethernet connection on wary or slacko the modem goes crazy and reset all the connection. I also lose the ethernet connection when using puppy. I am wondering if the Modem thinks puppy linux is a server, which is technically not allowed on Comcast Home customers.

Also, Puppy can't communicate with the 10.0.0.1 address of the modem setup page. Does puppy Linux some how block 10.0.0.xxx addresses? If so that is a bug that needs fixing.

I know how to do this thanks to another poster here.
if config eth0 down

Can it be passed from the kernel in the menu.lst?

Here is my menu.lst file
# NeoSmart NeoGrub Bootloader Configuration File
#
# This is the NeoGrub configuration file, and should be located at C:\NST\menu.lst
# Please see the EasyBCD Documentation for information on how to create/modify entries:

title Puppy Linux 5.5 frugal in sda1 dir wary5pup
find --set-root --ignore-floppies /wary5pup/initrd.gz
kernel /wary5pup/vmlinuz pmedia=atahd psubdir=wary5pup
initrd /wary5pup/initrd.gz

I am using EasyBCD Grub boot loader. It is working fine to load puppy from windows 7.
