#1 Post by Artie »

How do I update Sylpheed to version 2.2.6 in 1.09CE? Thanks!

We have a dotpup of 2.2.4, I think it already is part of 109-CE:

Is there a reason to upgrade to 2.2.6?
I see only minor bugfixes:

It freezes on me periodically, two times today. For instance, when I push the next button it sometimes never comes out again. Sometimes Sylpheed just locks by itself. When I try to close, it takes minutes and comes up with just the lines making the framework of the programwindow before it shuts down totally minutes later. Was hoping that a new version could fix this.

Ok, I might compile it later for Standard-Puppy.

I currently updated my system to newer libraries:

So Sylpheed would not run on your Puppy, if I compiled it now.

But you could of course upgrade too.
Maybe the new libraries will stabilize your Puppy, they include many bugfixes, too.

What do you prefer?
Wait a day or risk a complete update?

I think I'll wait... :-) I love trying out versions, especially the xfce, but usually come back to 1.09CE because it was the version I found very near perfect from the beginning. I have it configured exactly the way I like it. 2.01 doesn't even have Firefox. And for some reason I perceive 1.09CE to be quicker than the 2 series. I'm awaiting 2.02 and the new community edition soon. Thanks for answering! :-)
