maybe try the kernel from 5.8.3 http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/di ... PAE.tar.xz unzip and copy the vmlinuz & zdrv.sfs over the installed ones and reboot

they won't hurt anything, they are because i compiled urxvt so it could have tabs when the devx is loaded. you can get rid of them by ..... either adding this to the bottom of /root/.Xdefaults and restarting x

Code: Select all

URxvt.perl-ext:
URxvt.perl-ext-common:
or by loading the devx.

i'll probably push this through quickpet just to get rid of the error messages for now.

maybe try a different kernel http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/di ... r/kernels/ read the read-me

MochiMoppel wrote:I haven't had time yet to test thoroughly, but some issues I noticed:

- Heartbleed bug not fixed
Uses affected version OpenSSL 1.0.1f 6 Jan 2014

- ROX overwrite confirm bug not fixed

- JWM seems to have an issue with tray item borders. There are none, though border attirbutes are set. With many windows open it's almost impossible to distinguish windows in the tasklist when they have no icon. I copied over an older JWM from Slacko and this worked as expected.

- xclip (/usr/X11R7/bin/xclip) is outdated. Version 0.08 lacks UTF-8 support. Fixed in version 0.12

- Doesn't wake up after suspended to RAM. To suspend I use command

Code: Select all

sync && echo -n mem > /sys/power/state
- Same issues with SCSI drivers as in Slacko6
openssl is patched

jwm ...it's the new style jwm apparently, if you grab the latest snapshot there's no borders on anything, like in quirky unicorn, but if you grab the very latest from github you get some borders ..... maybe the next snapshot will have taskbar borders.

rox .... the new rox got missed, i'll update it. although maybe not through quickpet ...we'll see

not waking from suspend.... possibly kernel related (my netbook won't wake from suspend with 3.15 kernels but is fine with 3.14 kernels, so try a different kernel

Planner Project Management Software Bug/Error

#86 Post by Cadejo »

Planner Project Management Software Bug/Error:

Please see attached, it looks like the option to manually set a start date constraint was not selectable, All of the options were mashed together.

I fixed it. It's actually an issue with planner. I updated the two packages to 0.14.6.

Please implement fix!

Hello!

I tested all of drivers listed in the dropbox folder about kernel 3.14.20...

This folder: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zbantwc3o186 ... K3aJa?dl=0

nvidia-glx-340.46-k3.14.20_PAE.pet --> result in a black screen and do nothing.
nvidia-glx-340.46-k3.14.20_noPAE.pet --> i can't install it. I think this is not my installed version.
nvidia-glx-340.46-k3.14.20.pet --> when reboot, the desktop appear in a low resolution and a error saying that the nvidia driver is not currently user, restart x to enable it (or something like that, sorry). When i press the button "Restart X", the x restart but with the same message and low resolutions. If i run the xorgwizzard and select Nvidia driver and my resoluttion (1366x768)... the black screen again :(

any suggestions?

hi luiscuadrado123

you need to check on the nvidia website to see what driver you need http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

EDIT: the same result... black screen :( :( :( :( :(
same issue here, mine should be the 304.123, but not working, black screen, tried all to be sure.. for lack of being about to revert to a working driver trying all options in xorgwizard, I rebooted to ram, deleted savefile
tried again clean/new savefile created (and again, and again.... )

i ran nvidia-xconfig from command line as per the nvidia control panel
it says to remove nv driver, not sure how, i tried to use the modesetting
driver instead of nv, and reinstall the nvidia driver, well that's not how,
as same black screen.. :x I'm likely missing something real easy..
I should know to get this working

can someone straighten me out? thanks :)

try this

install the driver (you may need to create a savefile first) ... then try menu>>>bootmanager and then the modules tab, click the blacklist button and blacklist nouveau. then reboot

When you run Xorgwizard to select the Nvidia driver.
After running the test it goes to black screen and never does anything else?
Like a lockup?

The included web-browser Palemoon does not run for me, it exits with the message "Illegal instruction" when ran from terminal. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ processor, which lacks the SSE2 instruction set, this looks like the problem. I can always download a different browser though... (but the version of Iron in quickpet does not work, for the same reasons)

after select the resolutions and press on "Test X now"... the message for test appear with the "ok" button. I can read correctly the text... but when i press enter (to do OK) the black screem appear and nothing more happens. I tried to press CONTROL+ALT+Backspace (just like the tutorial say) but the same problem.

luiscuadrado123,

Thanks for info.
That is a clue.

A start over fresh is the easiest thing to do.

If frugal install, make a save file or directory(folder) and boot using it.
Make sure downloading and installing the Nvidia driver you need is the first thing you try.
Make sure you are getting the right driver package for the version of Tahrpup you have. (PAE or Non- PAE)

One possible cause of problem could be you have more than one version of the Nvidia driver installed.
Xorgwizard gets confused if it finds more than one driver labeled Nvidia.
Look in PPM uninstall list make sure only one Nvidia driver package is listed.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Intel driver?

#99 Post by borzeh »

hi
i'm not newbie in puppy or even in linux
but till now , as puppy detect all of my hardwares , i dont need any driver kind things!
now the problem
my netbook (eeepc 701 4g) has an intel gma900 Graphic chipset
but in xorgwizard there is only one (unaccelerated) choice
. this will run puppy
but vlc dont play any video.
i try to install x86_video_intel_2.15.pet
after that i go to xorgwizard , yet that only unaccelerated choice , in the next pages ( where there is a fallback button) fallback , now in this list there is an intel choice , select and ... so on
then movies under 640*480 work!
----- but higher resoulations only have a black screen and even player dont work (its like nothing!)
----
keep in mind that precise puppy (5.7.1) works fine , even with dvd playback!
is there any way to install intel drivers?
is there any driver?
or maybe downgrade to precise?
-------
-------
thank you

In Puppy Icon Switcher (menu->Desktop->Desktop icon switcher)

There is a button to click labeled "More Themes"

It opens the browser to this location:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=30075
This does not seem to be a location to get icons, but a place for GTK themes.

Icon themes are located here:
