I don't know how useful this info is for the average Puppy Linux user is, but today I have compiled a new perfect (as I think) 3.17.0 kernel for my PuppEX installed (not "frugal") system. I call it 3.17.0-puppex.

The kernel can be used in all newer 32 bit Puppy Linux "fully" installed systems. I.e. not "frugal" systems.

DOWNLOAD (puppy-k317.zip)
md5sum

1. unzip puppy-k317.zip
2. Place vmlinuz in /boot
3. Create new folders 3.17.0-puppex and all-firmware in /lib/modules
4. Open the sfs files and copy the content to the folders 3.17.0-puppex respectively all-firmware
Done!

If it doesn't work on frugals, I wouldn't quite call it perfect.

...but that's just me not my kernel, not my final determination as to how perfect it is or is not.

The kernel is indeed patched with aufs.

And it is "perfect" for fully installed Puppy systems.

I assume the reason is that there is nothing done about the initrd...a user would have to alter that for frugal use that's all as for any kernel change.

And there are still patches for aufs?!!!

Perhaps list a few of the perfections to give an idea of whats improved/added.

As I said in my first post the kernel is for "fully" installed systems.

I was merely pointing out to those who wondered why this was so...and if someone wanted to they could use it for a frugal.

But I see that its getting dizzy up there so bye for now

if you configure it with CONFIG_IKCONFIG_PROC=yes then the config file is included in /proc/config.gz (general setup --> Kernel .config support, Enable access to .config through /proc/config.gz)

What is the extension?
The best is to just gzip it and attache it.
'.gz' is an accepted extension. .'txt' is not.
