Hi 666philb,

Wonderful surprise to find the latest fsck4 code in the "init" script.
Thanks.

I see.
Though would be nice, if something is improved to be added in woof, so can be used in the future, instead of just clobbering the woof files.
Should not be difficult since jlst, L18L and you of course have pushed changes into woof, in the past.
Otherwise I'm afraid woof development will stop (is barely moving as a matter of fact several months now) and puppy building will become even more of a hackery, if at all.

Agreed. This hack PET trick has to stop, for the benefit of the entire Puppy community. Time to feed back changes to woof-CE if you don't want Puppy to die.

The problem stops if you add in /root/.bashrc the line:

Code:
export PERL5LIB=/usr/lib/5.18.2

and restart x.

Thanks watchdog! Smile

The perl-interpreter will initialize correctly now, but there are few remaining error messages associated with urxvt.

The "tabs" option of the urxvt terminal requires perl modules that are not available in the current tahrpup64 beta, but are available if one loads the devx sfs.

However, loading devx is not necessary.

Listed below are the required files which you can copy from the devx sfs (currently devx_tahr64_6.0.3.7.sfs), or simply use the attached pet which contains the extracted files.

Adding these files to the base tahrpup64 will also stop messages in xerrs.log about missing perl modules when running urxvt.

That covers most of the ones built in slacko64 plus a couple of others. I notice ddcprobe is a 32 bit version from puppy4!!! It's built.

Notes
  • gtkdialog docs wouldn't build, some error to do with version.texi, beyond me atm. Also, needed libintl-perl and libtext-unidecode-perl from ubuntu (ppm worked for that).
  • all the *mm* packages (including NLS for glibmm - for now) should go to devx except DOC. My splitting script isn't perfect!
  • I'll attach build scripts later

Since I went https on my server you must download with a script. Doesn't take long to get them all, less than 20 MB. I'll attach that and the md5's.

Note2: mostly untested! Use at own risk

I have now attached the build scripts and system. Have a play. it is certainly not perfect! Don't use it in a save file as space may be eaten quickly. Be aware that the latest dir2pet is needed. There is a fatal warning in the script if you don't have it with the URL of where to get it. Download it with wget and install it.

hope these are useful.

Just an idea for consideration after looking at @Billtoo's recent post.

For PPM future, can the PET Repo from other 64bit distros be added selections to the PPM2? Example Slacko64, Just-Lighthouse64, April64 and Xanad's contributions, FATDOG7x PETs, and any that are appropriate buckets of functions.

I used my custom puppy iso to do a manual frugal installation to a 16gb
usb-3.0 flash drive, pc is an Acer Laptop.

After installing the proprietary ati driver I needed to recompile
mplayer-1.1.1 to get Umplayer working.

It's working well.

SSD, pc is a macmini.

Referring to my post here about some pets natively built in tarhr64 I have found ( Exclamation I hope) the bug in my build system that was putting i18n headers into the NLS package where they are supposed to go into the DEV package. Note that this is an old bug that would have existed in Barry's new2dir script as well. It is my intention one day to rid puppy of the installwatch package. The find utility does just as good a job, and apart from that new2dir installs directly on the running system, which isn't really a good way to package stuff.

Anyway, I have rebuilt the glibmm_static package and also added gyro's latest freememapplet (see here.)

Here are the new packages (direct links to the packages works. Also note that there is no NLS package for glibmm):

4fffffa44090aefbea0ca6b0a7e3c69c freememapplet-2.8.6-x86_64_tahr64.pet
abee555e1f1565f1669224424c78d8c0 glibmm_static-2.28.2-x86_64_tahr64.pet
a9695d84d7e0f315e205a9c1179bb4aa glibmm_static_DEV-2.28.2-x86_64_tahr64.pet
76cc060a6e1ad3d8fac1829d3e2976d5 glibmm_static_DOC-2.28.2-x86_64_tahr64.pet

As a matter of course I will soon add more packages and then I will upload the build system to my github.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT

148 packages are now uploaded. The attached script will get them all. Md5's are included in the script package.

Build system is uploaded to github.

https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/petbuilds/tree/master

Read the readme.md to get started as there is the facility for multiple iterations of the build sytem depending on puppy version.

Please Note: the vobcopy package is reuploaded so there will be an md5 mismatch.
