David Gewirtz in his ZDnet article, 2014: The year Microsoft lost my loyalty (http://www.zdnet.com/topic/the-years-be ... -and-play/) mentioned that he no longer uses Microsoft's Word; for his academic writing he uses Scrivener. There are betas for Linux at http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum ... 33&t=28280. Scrivener soumds interesting and I'd like to play with it. Would anyone be interested in creating a pet of it?

That's good to hear . I actually downloaded the deb rather that let petget install it because I thought it would work only with an ubuntu based distro like lupu. Note Sylvander install failure with Slacko-5.7 a couple posts after yours. Are debs and slackware incompatible?the deb works fine in tahrpup

he may just need to install libgstapp-0.10.so.0; either a .deb or an .rpm should work.B.K. Johnson wrote:666philb wrote:That's good to hear . OK....
Installed within Slacko-5.7.0-PAE: gstreamer using the PPM, then installed the scrivener-1.7.2.3-i386.deb file using the link above, and...
It appears to work just fine.
Saved the session changes, and rebooted, and [it's still installed, and] it still works.
Howto move the menu entry from Utility to Document?
Tried editing the /usr/share/applications/Scrivener.desktop file...
Changed:
Categories=Utility
To...
Categories=Document
[Then "Save", and shut down the document]
And...
Menu->Shutdown->Rebuild Menu
But it only removed the Utility entry without creating the Document entry.
Perhaps I did it wrong?
