Subject description: Full version for tests on other Puppies

Hello, all.

This is a *.pet package (15 Mo +/-) of the recent ghostscript-9.15, compiled in
Puppy Slacko-6.0b. You can download it from:
http://www.datafilehost.com/d/6a773f29

Seems to work ok in my Slacko-6.0b, but if it could be tried on different Puppies?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Musher,

I'd be happy to test it in QU but can you give me an example on how to test it? I'm sure I can find some scripts but there's probably a normal use for this that should be tested.

Best,

Slavvo67

Hi slavvo67.

Well, here's a template for printing the first page of a pdf as a jpg picture.

Code:
#!/bin/sh
gs -sDEVICE=jpeg -dFirstPage=1 -dLastPage=1 -o /path_and/file_of/resulting-%d.jpg /path_and/file_of/initial.pdf

# -sPAPERSIZE=a10  # Not sure if this parameter works? It would be nice if it did.
# a10 is a small page of about 3cmx 3cm. The format is recognized by ghostscript.
# It would be a good size for a thumbnail, I think.

# -sDEVICE=jpeg  # indicates that ghostscript will use the "device" jpeg to do the
# conversion.
# There's a whole lot of these "devices" that gs can use. You can see the list by
# typing, in console: gs --help | more

# -dFIRSTPAGE= # as the name says!
# -dLASTPAGE=  # as the name says!

# -o /path/and/filename # prompts ghostscript to output to a file instead of a printer.

# -%d.ext # Put just before the extension of the file and after the filename itself.
#  Means: if there is more than one page in the output, put a number for each page
# after the filename. I suppose that it is not necessary in the case of a thumbnail,
# with FIRSTPAGE and LASTPAGE set to 1 (the number 1), but it works.

Thanks again for your interest.

It's pretty late here. Going to bed...

BFN.

To read the beginner's manual, in console, type
Code:
defaultbrowser file:///usr/share/ghostscript/9.15/doc/Use.htm

I have done a fast test in tahr using the command to merge two pdf files:

Code:
gs -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOUTPUTFILE=firstANDsecond.pdf -dBATCH first.pdf second.pdf

It seems to work apart the missing links libssl.so.1 and libcrypto.so.1.

Thanks for the test, watchdog.

Just checked, Slacko has them. I suppose you had to install those libs in TahrPup
from elsewhere?

Just:

Code:
ln -s /usr/lib/libssl.so /usr/lib/libssl.so.1

Code:
ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.1
