TOP Linux 4.2.1

#1 Post by Bizuayeu »

TOP (Tacky Optimizing Puppy) Linux is a Puplet for emerging countries, inspired by NOP.
(Nearly Office Pup -> http://www.puppylinux.org/downloads/pup ... office-pup )
TOP has following features.

1. It can show and input almost all languages. Since you can use it practically wherever you are. (It has Unifont universal font set and scim-m17n global input method.)

2. For frequent PC troubles in emerging countries, it has a lot of maintenance tools. (Partimage for backup, Testdisk for data recovery, ClamTk for anti-virus, and so on.)

3. It has Windows-like look and feel because of easy operation for Linux beginner. (I changed JWM+ROX to Xfce desktop environment.)

4. It can provide quick operation because It is only 100MB OS with described features. (If your PC has over 256MB RAM, it works completely in memory. If not, but installing it to HDD or USB flash, you will feel it goodish.)

5. In case operation is heavy (with very old computer or like that), it has some console applications (FD filer, MP editor

Sorry I can't help at the moment, Bizuayeu, but plenty of others can. This is an excellent idea; perfect choice of baseline in NOP and Xfce desktop. Moreover, I suspect that it might be appropriate for 80% of folks in 'emerged' nations, not least because they've been brainwashed along the M$ pathways and following years of Thatcher-Reagan dereliction, have worse educational systems/abilities than have been provided for many emerging countries. Emerge onwards and upwards.

Korean letter input incorrect. Korean words are composition of 2 to 3 letters.
The tird one is missing.

Take a look.

Bizuayeu :

Can you make a pet of Testdisk and also instruct others
to see how you got it working for Puppy.

A very handy program.

This is why.

My product is not worked up yet.
But I believe it will assist ICT4D in emerging countries.
Thank you!

puppyiso:
Sorry, I am not Hangeul native.
So I can not identify where is wrong.
I would like to ask you to check input layout of ko-han2 and ko-romaja.
For example, layout of ko-han2 is here.

cthisbear:
I will after TOP 4.2.1 development completion.
However, it is easy to build also for you!

TOP-RC2-lzma-4.2.1.iso

#11 Post by Bizuayeu »

I have successed to compress pup_421.sfs with lzma.
It makes TOP-RC2-4.2.1.iso to be cut down under 100MB.

Hi

This is a really nice puppy - using it in my EeePc 701SD.

Will try on my older laptops and report more.

Many thanks for what looks like a superb job.
